Just out of curiosity has anyone on this forum had zero problems with a 2007 or 2008 DTS? I'm keeping my 2003 Deville forever at this rate. 65,000 miles and not one problem. Runs perfectly -everything works, and it gets 30 mpg on the road or more. I suppose when I finally do replace it I may look at a used Lincoln Town Car or used Lexus. Cadillac -as evidenced by ... Wes63: I'm sorry you're having this suspension issue with your DTS.....it sounds very similar to the unresolved problem we had with my 2006 DTS Lux III. From my experience, I would recommend you install only the tires recommended by the dealer (and let them do it). By installing tires purchased elsewhere, I unknowingly gave Cadillac a "way out" excuse which allowed them to completely blow me off with the claim that ... Read More

The GM representatives (the same one that told me there was nothing wrong with my car in Feb. 2008, but then a bad tie rod end was found!) came out and drove my car again on 4/9/2008. I am now waiting to see if they will re-purchase my 2006 DTS. Again, my wheels feel like bobble heads when I am going over any bumps in the road along with having front ... Read More

Judging from the posts on cadillacforums, I came to the conclusion that 2006 (which--correct me if I'm wrong--was the first year of the current design) was a particularly bad year for Cadillac. Even though the drivetrain was virtually identical, that year had many, many more complaints on quality. At least that's what I'm hoping since I will take delivery of a new 2008 DTS Performance next week. I'd have to disagree ... Read More

Please read my previous posts regarding electrical problems. In addition, yesterday, August 28th, the car stalled out at second ignition and message came on "service security system", I waited a moment and car started without further issues for the rest of the day. I was near a Cadillac dealership so stopped by to report and the service advisor cleaned my key off saying that it might have been a piece of ... Read More

Thanks for the information on Mercedes, having had the problems I've had with the DTS reliability is very important to me. The fact that your car is trouble free is a very important factor and should weigh heavily in your decision. The 2006 DTS rides well is less likely to lean in turns, the T.C. is very quiet on the road, handles very well for a car of its size, gets ... Read More

Now that I have had my 2006 DTS for close to three months I can say that I like the car better than my 2004 Deville. It has a much firmer suspension and the power delivery seems much more abundant and responsive than did the 04 Deville. On the negative side the 2006 DTS gets about 10% lower fuel economy than the 04 Deville. The 2008 DTS has no major changes ... Read More

All the official reviews of the DTS say that the ride is comfortable. I'm with you. I'm not crazy about a Town Car because every Ford I've owned has had multiple annoying problems (check engine light etc etc). My 2003 Deville has been trouble free. It is also (in my opinion) a lot better looking than the 2006/7 DTS. Unfortunately things change and I'll probably get a 2007 DTS after the ... Read More

The Lexus and the Avalon have far better resale value than any Cadillac but you can certainly avoid a big hit the first year by doing what I do and buying a year old "certified" Cadillac. My '03 cost $27k in January of '04 with 29k miles. It now has 55k and has needed nothing in the way of serious repairs. It came with a 6 year 100k 0 deductible warranty ... Read More

Thanks to everybody who responded. I'll get a 2007 in 2008 and will look for a Luxury II or III -a lease return and not a rental car if I can avoid it. My "Certified" base 2003 Deville I purchased in January 2004 has been absolutely dependable except for some wind noise from the vertical post on the right rear door. It now has a little more than 50k miles on ... Read More

Toyota has always handled consumer complaints poorly. They either blame the consumer (the engine sludge problem was always the fault of the owner -guess they finally fessed up) or tell you that it is either "normal" or "can't duplicate the problem". I'll most likely get a Certified 2007 or 2008 DTS (Luxury II package) in October, 2008 when my '03 Deville warranty runs out. If Cadillac downsizes the DTS I'll keep ... Read More

I'm going to drive a number of cars when the Cadillac warranty runs out in October, 2008. I've never really been a fan of the Town Car because of the gas mileage and the fact that it rode and handled sort of like my '53 Olds 98. The Deville/DTS is lots more modern technically. I probably will discover that the best deal will be a two year old Lexus LS430 with ... Read More

One option will be a Lincoln Town Car. The Lexus LS430 isn't any bigger than my Impala. Right now you can buy a 2006 Town Car for $29,995 -about a $14,000 discount. They are giving them away and they don't pretend to be anything more than they are -a big, comfortable luxury sedan. The gas mileage isn't as good as the Northstar but I'll seriously consider one in 2008. Cadillac is ... Read More

Future DTS's

Has anyone heard what Cadillac is planning with the DTS for the next couple of years. I hesitate to buy an '06 if there is going to be some major body change in the next couple of years. My warranty on my Certified '03 doesn't expire till fall of 2008. Thanks - Karl

Does anyone know what 2005 Autoshow in which the new DeVille-DTS will premire....Also those of you who think that the DeVille-DTS will replace in 2008 you're wrong...Cadillac wont or will not phase out this car for atleast another six years...But there will be car for the S, 7, LS430-(some future highlevel Lexus sedan) XJ fighter...DeVille is still to important for Cadillac. Its sales more than 1/3 of Cadillac sales.

This is an interesting message. I think that you are right - the Deville/DTS is the volume seller to lots of people and to rental car companies. I'm 64 and drove Cadillacs when I was in my 20's so even then it wasn't entirely an "old folks" car. I currently have an '03 Deville and like it for exactly the reasons you pointed out. It holds lots of people and luggage, ... Read More
