My 2002 Seville LS had the torque converter lockup fail, which required the transaxle to be removed so that it could be taken apart. This also means that the engine is removed. I actually went to the dealership to buy a new 2005 Solara SE convertible, but bought the Avalon instead. Coming out of a DeVille and two Lincoln Continentals before that, the Solara was just too small and agree, the ride was horrible - very stiff! I recently had an idea to upgrade my current Bose radio/CD/cassette in my 2001 DHS to the Navigation System and saw a Cadillac Navigation (DVD) unit from a 2002 Deville advertised on eBay with the note that the seller also wanted to do the same thing but was reselling the unit when he was told by several "sources" the unit was incompatible with the 2001 Deville. Try and get one under 4 years old and 50k mileage so you will get a break on an extended warranty. I wouldn't dream of having any car without a 100,000 miles 0 deductible 6 year warranty especially a Cadillac. When the warranty is gone so is the car. ...in all my Cadillacs all the way back to my 1975 Sedan DeVille. I currently own a 2002 Seville STS. You can use 87 octane, but I prefer Sunoco 94 Ultra. It's like you can eat at McDonald's but prefer to dine at a far more upscale establishment. Read More...

I currently own a 1998 Deville with 35,000 miles. I generally trade cars when they get up around 50,000 miles. Am considering a Jaguar Sedan for my next car.
