Sold it today!!!!! -$28.500 in Amarillo. So I lost a couple of thousand dollars but it was better than keeping it. My wife has gone back to the Avalanche -she began to admit that the Solara jiggled and rode stiffly. I bought a 2000 Mustang convertible -Performance red - from a girl at the office. 42,000 miles and it drives like a Cadillac compared to the Solara. Glad to dump the ... Read More

Change the coolant now. Use the long-life, 'orange' coolant, as recommended. (Do not use 'green' coolant.) Put in the 'pellets' that Cadillac recommends. There usually is a sticker on the plastic cover at the front of the motor that gives the GM part number for these. Put 6 pellets into a radiator hose, do not put them into the tank under the 'radiator cap'. Yes, Northstars are known to have head ... Read More

I actually went to the dealership to buy a new 2005 Solara SE convertible, but bought the Avalon instead. Coming out of a DeVille and two Lincoln Continentals before that, the Solara was just too small and agree, the ride was horrible - very stiff! I loved by 2000 Lincoln Continental but thought I'd give a 2002 DeVille a try. Caddy ride was too soft and steering too vague for me, ... Read More

I used to drive Buicks and after the local Buick dealer (and zone office) refused to fix the creaking noise from one of the struts on a 2000 LeSabre (the car had 10k miles) -which I later learned was a faulty strut bearing -I sold the Buick and eventually bought a Cadillac. This was at 35000 miles They ingested a GM product through the throttle body which corrected the problem under warranty. In model year 2000 Cadillac moved the Deville onto the stiff FWD body platform that the 1995 Aurora/Riviera introduced. This is where the additional quietness and handling come from.

Try and get one under 4 years old and 50k mileage so you will get a break on an extended warranty. I wouldn't dream of having any car without a 100,000 miles 0 deductible 6 year warranty especially a Cadillac. When the warranty is gone so is the car. You're more than welcome. Here are a few other considerations, for what they are worth: 1. Cadillac dealers may go the extra mile to deal in order to retain you as a caddy customer, it won't hurt to try to exert a little leverage when dealing, especially if you know approximate invoice/wholesale prices from sites like edmunds. 2. Current model devilles (2000 - 2004) are good looking cars. I still get ... Read More

Caddy Depreciation

How hard do Cadillacs get hit by depreciation? If a 2000 DeVille were being traded in say w/ 11,000 miles, could it seriously be worth $ 10,000. less than when new? Is that excessive depreciation? Would say a Mercedes take the same kind of hit? Do luxury cars in general take a harder hit than other segments?
