Recently, about a month or so ago,I responded to about the same query as yours. We own a 2005 Deville. Have also owned 1995 and 1997 Devilles. And I posted quite extensive notes about their problems and my opinions. I don't know which thread I posted in. You may be able to back track on my postings or just look around in the various Cadillac threads. Overall, my basic opinion says ... Read More
Do not buy at Orlando Auto Brokers, they sell damaged cars

i bought a Cadillac Deville 1995 on February 21, 2010. Do not purchase cars at Orlando Auto Brokers located at Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando...they sell cars with broken motor, transmission, breaks, among other essential parts...they stole from me $3,300 dollars and refuse to fix or exchange the auto's transmission, which I found out was completely damaged within a week from purchase. They did not offer payable guarantee at time of purchase. ... Read More
So my boyfriend bought a 1995 Cadillac DeVille a few weeks ago and the weirdest thing keeps happening with his key lock (The automatic lock he keeps on his key ring- if that's what it's called). Well, to explain, he lives in an apartment complex in Chicago. When he parks his car behind his aparment (or between his building and the connecting one) his key lock won't work, it won't lock, ... Written by: rgwilson on Apr 21, 2008 2:38:20 PM
Recently I tried to jump start my another car from the battery of my '95 Caddy. It appeared the battery died. I bought a new battery and now when I turn the ignition...NOTHING!! She just sits there. No turn over. No starter sound. NADA! I checked all fuses they are in tact. What could could be her possible problem(s)? Thanks in advance.
I have a 1995 cadillac sedan deville, my AC does not blow, it says ac compressor off and very low refrigerant, but I have had refrigerant put in the car. My mechanic told me it was an electrical probelm, if I hold this peice down the air will blow but it's not cold, and when I let this peice go it stops blowing all together. I need to know the problem ... Read More
This is what I know: the new DTS is sharing with the new Lucerne. Both have the same basic body. The wheelbase on the new DTS is slightly longer than last years DeVille, so the body has been updated or re-engineered. However, the body is basically the 1995 Aurora body design. They are working on a zeta platform, which will be the platform for the Camaro and GTO. There will also ... Read More
I have a 1995 Deville that I purchased in 2000. The driver side heater has always blown cool air. My mechanic says this is an engineering screw up, and car probably came off the assembly line with this problem. He said General Motors suggested a fix. He told me not to waste my money because this fix doesn't do much good at all. (By the way, my mechanic now has his ... Read More
My 1995 Cadillac Deville with 4.9 liter engine hesitates when I accelerate. How frequent? It seems that depends on what the outside temperature is. I bought this car in 2000, and have had this problem since 2001. My mechanic feels it's a computer problem. He says my car has 3 "computers". He's not sure which one to replace, so he would replace one at a time until problem is remedied. He ... Read More

I have a 1995 Concours. I have close to same problem. Was wondering if you could put normal struts on instead of cadillac struts. Price comparison $900 each for cadillac compared to $350 each for normal

He needs to buy the factory workshop manual to tackle a job like that. He'll regret it if he doesn't get the info directly from the factory manual. It'll tell him where all the hidden bolts and clips and more important the sequence of removal. It's a pretty big job, you don't want to go into it blind.
1995 Cadillac deVille sedan...removal of heater core

Does anyone know how to remove the heater Core from a 1995 Cadillac sedan deVille? My husband thinks he has to go through the glove box but isn't sure. Thanks for any help.
In model year 2000 Cadillac moved the Deville onto the stiff FWD body platform that the 1995 Aurora/Riviera introduced. This is where the additional quietness and handling come from.

I'm back in the Cadillac ownership business. A 1997 Deville d'Elegance (sp). It's in very good to excellant shape with 64,000 miles. Want to make the wifie happy. She wanted anything, just so it was in the White Diamond color. She's not been happy since I sold her 1995 Concours. Anyway. After buying the car (of course), I went to the Nat. Highway Transportation (NHTSB) site to check on recalls and ... Read More
To Buy Or Not To Buy?

That is the question. I'm looking at a 1995 Cadillac Deville STD which has the 4.9L V8 with 99,500 miles on it. Appears to be in great shape. Agreed price with dealer is $8,500. What do you guys think? I know very little about Cads and this would be my first. Thanks in advance.

You Got it! As etharmon discussed in his post #373, he is absolutely accurate. The 4.9 motor which was standard in the base model Deville until thru 1995 is, in fact the direct descendant of the HT4100, which was probably Cadillac's biggest Engineering disaster ever. And, while the motor got better in it's progressive iterations to 4.5 and eventually 4.9 liters, it was never anything to write home about. I went ... Read More
