I had the oil changed on my 2005 CTS and, now, my 2009 CTS at a Cadillac dealership in Nashville, TN. The charge has always been $64.00 for a synthetic oil change and filter change. Why would a dealer charge $150? That is a ridiculous charge.
I am guilty of being: Often wrong. . .but. . . Never uncertain. My "take" on Acura is based soley on what I read (in the present tense) and what I have read (previously.) I read, with a dubious eye, the Automobile magazine article wherein an Audi S4 was "tested against" an Acura TL SH-AWD. No way you say? I recall my initial reaction as, "yea, sure the two cars finished ... Read More
A friend of mine frequently uses the phrase: "There's no replacement for displacement." He is appalled at the number of cars that may offer more than 6 cylinders but rarely sell (or stock) anything other than "blown" I4's, I6's or V6's (both naturally aspirated and forced induction.) I tell him that there IS a replacement for displacement and that it is "volumetric efficiency." The 211HP 258 pound feet I4 in my ... Read More
I was out on another Cadillac forum and I read a posting from a guy who has a 2005 CTS that was burning a couple of quarts every 1000 miles or so. This guy obviously knows something about cars because he made a modification to his PCV vacuum tube (don't ask me to explain what he did), and apparently the engine no longer drinks oil. So that got me looking around ... Read More
I have a 2005 CTS 3.6 and it has the same problem with oil consumption. I'm much older than you and have owned dozens of vehicles in my lifetime and have never had the experience of 600-800 miles per quart of oil as I have with my CTS. I have a 2009 CTS with the 3.6 engine. I have the oil changed at 5 to 6000 mile intervals at a Cadillac dealership. It uses a quart between changes. Short answer, no. At this point, an Audi A4 2.0T Prestige + SLine with everything on it except ADS would be a great car. Thanks for the congrats -- here is the Buying Story. I found a website called CARWOO.COM -- which, for a one time fee, allows you to locate and price a car without revealing your identity. I wonder why you test drove the Acura TSX but not the Acura TL. I have been trying to fully decode my 2009 Cadillac VIN. The first thing I checked was the 8th character which I think is engine type. Mine is a "V" which I think is 3.6 DI. The other entry in the 8th digit is 7 which is something called "LY7" which I think is an engine classification. Can anyone point me to a decoder for the VIN?
I purchased this car out of state, from Towell Cadillac in Akron Ohio, and negotiations were done via phone and fax. I have a fax from the sales person with his handwritten note stating that the "in service" date was January of 2010. Greetings rbirns1. What you read is correct, General Motors did finally reintroduce leasing on a select number of models. It actually is running two different special lease programs this month, one through its traditional captive finance company GMAC in most regions and one through US Bank in a select number of states. GMAC's current base lease rate for a 36 to 39 month lease of a 2009 Cadillac CTS is a ... Read More

No offense mixen but putting money down on a lease is a risk. If your car is stolen or totalled, then you lose all that money. Gap insurance does not cover you. The insurance company writes the check to the owner of the car (i.e. the leasing company), not you, so any money that you put down is lost. Good question, smithsonga. The GMAC residual values are tough to find, but I managed to dig them up. GMAC's August residual value for a 36 month lease of a base 2009 Cadillac CTS was a horrifying 36%. This car's lease rates are indeed available for any trim level outside of the V, but its residuals vary by term. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum
