Poor 2008 CTS AWD DI Gas Mileage
Written by: cts08nogas on Oct 29, 2008 12:18:18 PM
Hello All, Just wanted the thoughts of others regarding the very poor gas mileage I am getting with my 2008 AWD CTS with the direct injection engine with currently around 5,500 miles. My daily commute is around 8.5 miles broken-down by 15% city driving and 85% highway driving. I wish my actual MPG was as simple as taking the weighted average of the vehicle’s estimated MPG (18 city/26 highway), given the ... Read More

Cadillac CTS TV ads with price
Written by: andbye on Oct 20, 2008 1:45:07 PM
These ads show $42,850 and $30,995 and seem to represent prices after all rebates, incentives, etc. for a well equipped model and a strictly base model. Doesn't indicate 2008 or 09 and no MSRP. What are they really saying? How do these compare to "employee pricing" featured a few weeks back?

Written by: knotem on Oct 18, 2008 4:42:49 PM
My 08 CTS is about 7 weeks old, has less than 1,500 miles and the driver's beige leather seat has a large wrinkle, the leather is kind of loose. It looks similar to that in the Cadillac forums website: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-forum-2008-beyond/134923-probl- em-drivers-seat-leather.html I didn't have any other problem with the car; I don’t know if that loose leather seat problem worth the trip to the dealer. I wonder if GM would replace ... Read More

bingoman, pao Thanks for the help. I called the dealer's top manager, I was very angry expressing my willing to take further steps; he suggested that I go to my neighborhood Cadillac and have their Parts department to replace the wrong part or order a new one and charge the invoice to him. After 6 weeks of waiting I think the problem is solved. When I came back home I found ... Read More

Lack of security
Written by: bingoman on Sep 19, 2008 5:36:45 PM
Well, my biggest concern with the CTS has come home to roost. I complained about the fact that both the 2003 and the 2008 (in fact all new CTS's) have no security for the contents of the car when given to a valet or other person. My Ipod Nano is gone. It was in the center console the last time I looked, but that was several weeks ago. I have given ... Read More

PDQ Premium Luxury Collection
Written by: genuisity on Aug 31, 2008 12:15:39 AM
I bought a red 2008 Cadillac CTS with PDQ, 18" wheel summer package, the price was $40,575 after the $2000 rebate and the Employee Plan. The dealer didn't accept any lower price than the Plan price. The Window Sticker doesn't mention 6 DISC CD PLAYER, but since PQD has Y41 included, I think it should have 6 DISC CD. I tried to insert a second CD I couldn't do it. The ... Read More

I am also currently shopping the CTS and I asked the manger at the Cadillac dealership that exact question. He told me that you also have to take into account that there has been a price increase for the "09 of approx $1100-, so in effect, you are actually paying $3,000- less for the '08. If you trade it in 3-4 years what will the difference in value be? I don't ... Read More

After trying the car out over the weekend, I bought a new 2008 STS on Monday. It's equipped identically to the CTS you bought, even down to the colors. The dealer knocked nearly $10,000 off the MSRP and it wound up a little over $600 less than a similar CTS. They wouldn't deal at all on a CTS. Anyway, I have not experienced the cabin pressure problem you are having but ... Read More

AWD, DI, PDQ, Y41, FE2, White Diamond Tricoat/Cashmere, extra wood package (the additional wood truly enhances an already elegant look). Sticker 50,535; supplier discount; was going to pay cash but was happy to oblige GMAC's 60 month - 0% deal once I opened up to a 2008 model (see below). Thoughts: Fit and finish is first rate, electronics are functional and of high quality; more features than I can count, but ... Read More

Here are a few comments from Car & Driver in an article dated April 2008 written by John Philips comparing the base V-6 and the DI engine. "Around town, the base V-6 emits a charming growl right to is 7000-rpm redline. At full whack, it is 2dBA noisier than the DI. On the other hand, it's quieter at idle and at a 70mph cruise. Both engines offer smooth throttle tip-in and ... Read More

Written by: sls002 on Jul 1, 2008 6:54:49 PM
I think rcantwell makes a valid point that including it only with an expensive package is not good. While people without a garage don't care, most people with a garage would want it even if they did not want some of the other options. For 2009 the sunroof appears to be a separate option, but the opener is still only part of a package, although three different packages seem to include ... Read More

You are entitled to your opinion, but so are the folks at Cadillac, and their opinion was that not enough folks buying the base luxury model wanted a garage door opener (see 150mph above). Thats capitalism for you, the seller gets to choose what he thinks will sell. The buyer only gets to choose whether or not he/she wants to buy. There are a number of things that I wish they ... Having Cold Feet About Buying American

I think, but am really guessing, that the QAF\performance_handling_package is designed for the 1SG STS, which is seriously upgraded from the base STS. If you wanted to put it on the base STS, it would probably cost a few thousand extra to upgrade the base STS before you could get QAF installed. I think when the STS was first put into production, they may have wanted to limit the number of ... Read More

I just think that somewhere along the way Cadillac should have made the opener available without having to spend an extra 6 grand or so on options that I didn't need. Hi nacho2. GMAC's April lease program for the Cadillac CTS is exactly the same as its March program was. The only new incentive that General Motors introduced on the 2008 Cadillac CTS is an owner loyalty offer that provides $1,000 on purchases and $500 on leases of this car to current owners and lessees of GM vehicles. Hi tmasjr. If I was in the market for a CTS I absolutely would tell the dealer that I was going to walk away from the deal if they don't use the base lease rate. There are tons of GM dealers out there. If two dealerships that are 20 miles apart are quoting you different residual values for identical leases, then one is wrong. The sales brochure lists the Universal home remote as part of the Luxury Level II package, which is also a part of the Premium Luxury Collection. If your car contains either of those options the remote should have been included. If not, you might try to purchase the necessary parts from your dealers parts department and have it installed by an independent auto electrician.

For the price you are paying most of those options should not be options. My 2002 minivan ($35,000 cdn, $28,000 us) had the homelink (with garage door opener) as stardard. Maybe you can add it later, in case you forgot.

This is a note of interest to potential 2008 Cadillac CTS buyers. Ten years ago all Cadillac's came with a built in "garage door opener" but one can spend $43,000 for the 2008 CTS with luxury upgrades and have a car that doesn't have a garage door opener. The car manual shows one installed as standard equipment but I have this car and General Motors has gone on record to say ... Read More
