Yesterday, I made a bid on a used 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP w/16k mi to a dealer in central Florida.. I see it uses the same 3.6 engine as the base Model CTS..The G6 Pontiac is no dream, but the GXP is equipped nicely with leather, sunroof, and other goodies..My bid was safe and their asking price was way too high, and they countered, but still way off..They have my number ... I've posted on this site before and have dealt with gmcustomerservice and cadillac about the oil consumption problem and brakeing issues. Search Google for Cadillac CTS Service Bulletin or TSB. I believe it only applies to 2007 and earlier but not sure. Contact your local dealer also. Check your oil about 30 minutes after going for a drive then let the car sit a couple days and check it again on a cold engine. See if the level is the same. I have had this same issue in my 2006 cts (3.6). I took it to the Cadillac Dealership here in Waldorf, Maryland (Ken Dixon) and they could not duplicate the problem. I even had the "big man" of the Service Department drive the vehicle and he couldn't duplicate the issue, even though I was sitting in the passenger seat with him and could feel what was going on. Sat., June 5, 2010 our bought new 2007 CTS 3.2 with 28,000 (28k) miles shut off while approaching an intersection here in Ft. Lauderdale. No restart, very loud grinding when the key was turned. I have a 2007 and it started doing the same thing after about 25K miles. Two things going on. 1) There is a software update for the Transmission Control Module (TCM) that should be applied. If that doesn't fix it, then go to 2) Replace the torque converter. There is a TSB out there regarding this issue. Most likely, the torque converter will need to be replaced.

Cadillac just came out with a new lease program. It's $449/mo with "0" down. (Residual is 43% I believe based upon a purchase price of $37990) I made an error on my 2007 CTS that I am currently leasing... the buy out is 18,440 not 18,300. You can buy the car for the Residual, that is quoted on your Lease Agreement. Do not pay more than that. If "for example" your residual is $20,000 and the dealer can buy it from GMAC for $17,300, it's a good compromise to buy it for $18,300. My dealer just contacted me and asked me if I had any interest in buying my 2007 CTS at end of Lease. I have the basic model with a 6 not an 8. It has premium paint and has most bells and whistles. It has just slightly under 10,000 miles. Is it worth the $18,300 he is asking?

The current, A4, has a wheelbase that is 6.6" longer than the one right now for sale in the US. Unfortunately, the $3,000 consumer cash that you mentioned is not compatible with GMAC's special lease program for this model. i got a similar deal but it was brand new with 6 miles on it with msrp of $31605 before all the rebates. i paid $2800 due at lease signing with 38 more payments of $263 + tax = $287 per month. i spoke with 5 different dealers in philly area and finally found one that made this deal. i love the car. goodluck.

The CTS has been characterized as "last generation." I noted that the CTS has adopted current generation (i.e., 2005 vintage) LPS content. I lamented that the CTS as a 2008 will come to the market with 2005 content.
