1999 Cadillac Catera 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 94,000 miles This car was recently serviced because of a bad crank positioning sensor and Mass Airflow sensor (check engine light came on). Replaced both and car was fine... light went out.... 2 months later coolant light came on, coolant level is fine and the car is not over heating.... 2 days after coolant light came on ALL the warning lights came ... MY 1999 CATERA WILL START, BUT WILL NOT ACCELERRATE. The car acts as if the gas pedal cable is not connected, however, I understand there is none. My mechanic said that I either need a new main computer or an accelerator sensor, but he is not sure. he said it would cost to much for him to just guess and the cadillac dealer is not any help, beause they say they ... Thank you gnguru, the crankshaft sensor was the problem. Since I didn't have the money to put it on at the dealer that was requesting 500.00 I went to my local auto zone and picked the bran new part up for 75.00 with tax and my husband installed it. Replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS). About a $50 part. If you can't do it yourself the Cadillac garage will replace it for right at $500 give or take $100..

I finally found a low mileage 1999 Catera to purchase that I adore. My problem is the interior lights have started staying on. Any experience out there what would case the interior lights to stay on while the car is running and after the engine is shut off? Hi Rodney, I just pruchased a used 2000 Cadillac Catera with 27,000 miles on it. The oil light comes on and off...its filled with oil. I took it to my mechic and he put a manuel oil pressure gague on it. He found it has low pressure and he very concern that the engine will go....have you heard about this problem...should I be concern??!!! Has anyone had the same problems?! adosch ... Read More

I ALSO JUST PURCHASED MY 1999 CATERA , AND I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE HAND CLUTCH (WHERE YOU PUT YOUR CAR INTO GEAR) IT WAS STICKING. SO WHEN YOU PARK YOUR CAR JUST MAKE SURE TO PUSH IT DOWN ALL THE WAY AND YOUR KEY WILL COME OUT. YOU STILL MAY WANT TO TAKE IT TO A CADILLAC DEALER AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT!
