The first gen TSX debuted as a 2004 model in 2003. One of my friends actually had one. The 2004 TSX was the first car with that nameplate in the US. Prior to that the entry acuras were the Integra and RSX. Well I read that Buick dealers have close to 6k in stock so there are plenty of Regal's out there. I have seen numerous billboards and TV ads but ... Read More

In europe the car competes with Passat, A4, etc. Its more German than any TSX will ever be. I'm sorry but I don't really consider Acura to be more prestigious than Buick. I know many disagree but Acuras are basically Hondas with more features, nothing more. The TSX is an entry level car for an affordable luxury marque- its not a Mercedes or Jaguar. If you want a well damped ride, ... Read More

The first US car on epsilon I was the 2004 Malibu. It had the short wheelbase and the Maxx had the long wheelbase. The Aura, G6 and 2008 Malibu were all EP1 cars on the long wheelbase. In Europe, the Vectra was always on the short wheelbase. The Insignia was the first car on EP2 and this time the Malibu will share the short wheelbase with its European counterpart. The Lacrosse ... After all the problems I've had with my 2000 Buick Regal, I should mention that I lucked into the problem: The MAF sensor! After replacing the Crank Shaft sensor and the Low Speed Idle motor/sensor, I got lucky. Fortunately, the Regal started running really badly as the mechanic drove it into his shop. The computer was throwing error codes like crazy, and they all pointed to the MAF. Replacement @ $250+ ... Read More

"Not wanting to run afoul of the moderators, but was the Regal the only Buick de-contented as it approached its final run?" The Century is another example of Buick's decontenting. I believe in 2003 the previously standard antilock brakes were made optional. That was a biggy.

I believe that not only Buicks and other GM cars, but most of other cars are decontented, as well as of other goods. This is a routine way, described in standard American university marketing textbooks. I read it in mid 1980-ths, in the fourths edition of textbook by Philip Kotler. I lived then in the Soviet Union, but was interested in American economics.

I also had some of the fluid drained out a few weeks back as it had been overfilled at a dealership last Dec. At this same time, I also found out the tranny flush I had last December didn't also include a requested filter change. The previous service mgr informed me then that it typically didn't, but my request stood. Well, he didn't give a flying phooey about my request, as ... Read More

Thanks for the replies bushwack and yurakm. I have no right to expect anyone to write as much as yurakm did...thanks a million. Of all things, why would they delete a strut tower brace...can they? I didn't think a STB is an optional piece of equipment. I've sat in a 2004, not driven it, and thought my hind end was picking up on a stiffer, thinner seat. Glad (yet sad) to ... Read More

The 2001 - 2004 models were not as well equipped with 'standard' items. I believe items such as drivers side air bag and traction control became options. Then for 2002 the traction control went back to becoming a standard feature. IMO, the best year for the car was 2000 of the 1997.5 - 2004 model years. I say that not because I once owned a 2000 GS. But because it was ... Read More

  • Fog Lamps on '04 Buick Regal LS - Just Decoration?

I have a 2004 Buick Regal LS and because it's a Canadian model it has the automatic daytime running lamps. I'm wondering if the fog lamps are of any use at any time. I find using them at night they offer next to no difference and during the day, say if it's foggy, they are equally useless because the headlights come on automatically. I have the factory bulbs, so I suppose ... Read More

I had a 1999 Regal and it had all of the features as your 2000 had and they were standard items. I recently traded it in for a 2005 LaCrosse. This is supposed to replace the Regal. It is a nice car but I sure miss all of the standard gadgets my 99 had. The one I miss the most is the cornering lights. The steering on the LaCrosse is stiffer ... Read More

Hi Gary2. If you mean the inside of the lens has condensation, this is a fairly common problem. Often happens due to high pressure wands at do-it-yourself car washes. The entire headlamp assembly can be easily removed without any tools. Just slide out a couple of black plastic clips from the back. On the back of the assembly are 3 or 4 round rubber covers. You can remove them and direct ... Read More

I recall seeing this car at the L.A. Auto Show. I wasn't too impressed with the car. Just too much overkill (cosmetic and otherwise). It reminded me of a bad hair day for Tammy Faye Baker. . If someone wants to add some flair to their Regal, add some 245/50/17 tires on the standard rims for marginally better handling. Under the hood, use a smaller pully for an added 20-30 hp ... Looks like in 2004, Regal will no longer be the distinctive, special and somewhat mysterious (esp. in GS form!)car in Buick's lineup. Seems it will be the dull, mass produced brain child of GM's BEAN counters! Yes! The BEAN counters have taken over design and marketing too!

I agree, you could do it relatively low cost and risk using off the shelf parts, given volumn discount. I think the biggest bang for buck would be the 5 speed auto. I think you can even already get stabilitrak in the 2001 Regal, right ? I would imagine stabilitrak will be upgraded to use all 4 wheels, like PCS especially with oldsmobile be phasing out. The understated styling is much easier to live with, after you get over the new car period. Does anyone have details about what is under the hood or inside. I see that portholes will be returning to Buick - I think they were included on the La Crosse concept car and here they are again on the Regal. That's fine with me - makes Buicks easily identifiable again. The sweeping rear quarter panel is a nice touch too - and I think again a touch that Buick is returning to across multiple models. I saw a computer-enhanced photo of the new 2004 Regal by spy photographer Jim Dunne and it looks very sleek and stylish. With the new Rendezvous, '04 Regal, and production rear-drive LaCrosse coming, Buick will soon lose its image of being "old people's cars". Maybe bring back the T-Type for the LeSabre: supercharged engine, blacked-out grill, drop it a half inch. THAT would be the most kick-ass family on the block! You know, the Park Ave is going to be replaced by a LaCrosse-style luxury crossover around '04-05. Also, the Regal and Century are going to be redesigned for the 2004 MY and there are rumors that Buick might be producing the Blackwood concept in ... Read More
