Re: 2002 Buick Regal Rack and Pinion Problem [target]
Written by: brokenbuick on Oct 23, 2005 4:08:24 PM
yes, this is a major problem with the 97-04 regals it was a recall issue. it is caused by a power steering malfunction. if you call your local GM dealer and give them your VIN they should be able to tell you if this has been replaced or not on your car. I found out the hardway losing all power steering in Austin texas I turned my wheel without it and ... Read More

Reprogramming keyless entry
Written by: revev7 on Mar 16, 2005 12:41:58 PM
I have a 2000 Buick Regal. The keyless entry is giving me trouble. The battery is OK. What is the process to reprogram the fob? I have found instructions for a 1999 and 2002 and they are different, so I thought I had better ask for 2000 specifically.

Aftermarket Sunroof
Written by: jbm on Dec 15, 2004 8:25:47 AM
Did anyone here install an aftermarket sunroof in their buick regal, and, if so, how much did you pay, which company manufactured the 'roof, and are you happy with the job? I am thinking of getting mine done (I have a 2002 Buick Regal GS). Thank you, jbm

Hi gang, I have a 2002 Buick Regal GS. I saw some photos once of a guy who replaced his interior trim panels with some that were a high-gloss dark gray, it looked really cool. Does anyone know any reputable online dealers for trim kits such as the one I saw? Thanks, jbm

FYI to Regal/GS Owners re: repairs
Written by: jbm on May 22, 2004 8:01:37 AM
Hi gang, I'm an infrequent contributer to this board and I wanted to advise you on some repairs i just had done on my 2002 Buick Regal GS with 30,000 mi. This is just an FYI if you experience similar problems. 1.) I was noticing a vibration when braking, not a warped rotor vibration but an uneven, subtle one. I thought my brake pads were going, too (due to long travel ... Read More

Extended Warranty?
Written by: jbm on Mar 2, 2004 4:34:01 PM
Hi all, I have a 2002 Buick Regal GS with 26,000 miles, and I am considering dropping $1000+ via AAA on an extended warranty so I'm covered for (say) up to 75,000 miles. But I've also heard that as a general rule of thumb, extended warranties aren't worth the extra expense. For all you Regal GS owners with extended warranties, do you feel they've paid off?

My wife is thrilled with her 2002 Buick Regal, and she should be. It only has 8500 miles on it and was a local one owner lady driver. But I liked the 8 speaker 200 watt monsoon sound that my wife will not let my crank it up. Now moving along I took over her 2000 GX Intrigue and she was not thrilled to give it up even with 49,000 miles ... Read More

Should I buy
Written by: coonhound on Jan 3, 2004 7:55:41 PM
Considering that consumer reports has not had a domestic sedan with #1 reliability rating in at least six years it is truly remarkable that Regal was picked as #1 family sedan for reliability. They have always been Toyoto, Honda, or Maxima just as all reviews and ratings including Edmunds. I have considered a Camry but when I follow one and see the tail pipe hanging down close to the ground with ... Read More

Just purchased 2002 Regal LS
Written by: coonhound on Dec 30, 2003 8:09:07 PM
Was going to purchase an 03 but since Bob had de-contented the regal to make it like a camcord, I went with an 02 that still had luxury and useful content. i.e. loaded except for heated seats and on-star. Traded in my nice 2000 GL Alero, but kept the 2000 Intrigue. I know it's lonely here on the Buick site vs. the Oldsmobile sites. Don't understand this, as sitting in my ... Read More

Written by: jbmalik on Dec 18, 2003 10:22:29 PM
Hello, all. I am not sure if I am just noticing this for the first time in my 2002 Buick Regal GS, or if it is a brand new 'problem'. A muted whine is coming from my engine compartment when the rpms go up even slightly, e.g. when I softly rev the engine or even just creep forward. Maybe it is the normal supercharger noise and I haven't noticed it before, ... Read More

Squeaky rear suspension

All- I have a 2002 Buick Regal GS with about 17,000 miles. there is a squeak (kind of a chirping sound) coming from what I *think* is the suspension. Happens every time I go over a bump (large or small). Frequency increases when I have (say) a passenger riding in the back. Anyone else experience this?

Nice cars/build quality bad

I like the Buick Regals as well however the build quality really has went down hill, my 2002 Buick Century has a dash board that rattles and squeaks, the plastic pieces just don't keep quiet, i've driven several cars/trucks in the past this has to be the worst for interior noise/dash noise.

Masonmi: Sorry to hear you're having rattles with your Century. Assuming it's still under warranty, you should bug the hell out of your dealer/mechanic to get it right, you shouldn't have to put up with that. I am unfamiliar with the Century's interior materials, however the Regal GS has, I think, only a few pieces that are borderline-cheap (Glove box door, middle compartment door, ashtray door). Not so much the old rebates, as the current rebates hold price low. Dealers are usually pricing mid-size GM car at about $2,000 below sticker. And yes, most people can get the deal. Just print the car description from Edmunds' site, including the TMV price, and bring it to dealership. Most car salesmen would see that you are prepared , and would offer reasonable price from the very beginning. Currently GM ... Read More

Buy or Not to Buy

Trying to decide if buying a 99 Regal LS with 22,000 miles in mint condition from a Buick Dealer for $14,500 is a better decision than buying a 2002 Saturn L200 with 0% A.P.R. for $19,500. Why Arent Buick Regals Selling Better?

In my opinion Buick is doing a poor job of advertising the Regal. They threw away their money having Tiger Woods doing commercials for them. He's not bringing them much business. I'd have a comercial showing a Regal GS pulling away from a Mustang GT at a stop light and showing him nothing but tail lights. The Regal GS seems to be a well kept secret along with the LS.
