2007 Buick Rainier Road Test Ratings

A functional SUV, but not an impressive one, the Buick Rainier ranks average at best. A V8 engine option doesn't balance its shortcomings in handling and poor build quality.

Weak steering and handling. The standard straight six-cylinder engine is OK, but it can be replaced with an above-average V8.

Rainiers are soft-riding, and the flat seats lack support.

Controls are typical GM fare. Cargo space is adequate.

Traditional SUV styling makes the Buick feel dated. Below-average build and materials quality doesn't impress.
