Review

Compared to the GM lineup, the Buick has more elegant feel. It is very quiet and acceleration is smooth.

Favorite Features

The overall exterior design. Quiet and un-truck like ride.

Suggested Improvements

Cavalier level sun visors. Leather Seating surfaces stretch and are baggy. Too much dash plastic. Glove box needs sound deadner too much plastic.

Review

We have taken the Rainier on two long trips and are impressed by Buick's version of the Trailblazer/Envoy/Bravada. It is a worthy addition to the GM line that provides a great balance between pampering and practicality. This is the third vehicle I've owned with an in- line six. Why aren't they available in more models? GM needs to put this engine in a Buick sedan with a Continuously Variable transmission (CVT) for the ultimate in smoothness and power combination before the internal combustion engines are phased out completely.

Favorite Features

The attention to detail is evident. The time spent in Ergonomics paid big dividends. For example the exterior lights can be set to provide perimeter lighting upon exit which is very useful.

Suggested Improvements

Add a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) option.

I've had this car for a month now, and i still have yet to see another Rainier on the road. I dont get it! I thought i saw one parked, but when i went up to it, it was a Bravada. Are people not interested in having a great vehicle? It might be a bit overpriced, but its still an awesome SUV! I was deciding between the Rainier and the Volvo xc90, and for the price, the Rainier is definitely the better bang for the buck!

Favorite Features

My wife and i are absolutely loving the automatic seat and mirror/radio settings based on which key fob opens the truck. The ride is so smooth, you'd think you were in a 84 caddy! XM radio is sooooooooo cool!! we love the 80's and 90's channel!!

Suggested Improvements

dvd based navigation system a bit user-UNfriendly. To use the nav system, disc has to be in the player at all times Since its dvd based, why cant it play movie DVD's? That would be an awesome feature!!

Review

Bought the car almost a month ago. Rides great - exceptionally smooth but not too soft - still has good cornering ability for an SUV. Without the rebates the car cannot compete well against imports mainly because of the interior design. Otherwise performance is at a par if not better. It has been a surprise to get only 15-16mpg in mixed suburb/hwy driving. Maybe during the summer it will get better.

Favorite Features

Smooth and quiet ride, exterior design, drivetrain.

Suggested Improvements

Needs a better basic radio and a new cluster gage design - also fuel economy with the V6 engine should be improved by 10% or more even with the price of less uumph from the stop light.

Buick is headed in the right direction. A super SUV for "serious achievers" as Buick puts it. We love the Rainier. Quality, comfort and style.

Review

This is a new packaged Bravada - Buick had to differentiate here between the V6 based design (better fuel economy if possible get to 23mpg hwy) and the V8 based design (towing capacity and performance) - Rainier barely competitive with this SUV market segment even with rebates applied. Spend less for marketing and more for engineering

Favorite Features

Engine power, exterior design, suspension leveling, cabin quietness, smooth ride.

Suggested Improvements

Needs better braking, better sound with Base Radio (acoustics like in a $20k car), gage cluster fashioned as 20 years ago, needs a harder suspension for better handling.

Review

this suv has plenty of power but is still easy on the gas. it is an awd vehicle but drives and has the comfort of a luxury car. it has just enough of a rugged look to it that it fits in well on the construction site but also cleans up for an evening out on the town.

Favorite Features

it has a wide array of setting so that it will set everything up for driver 1 or driver 2 depending on whose driving.

Suggested Improvements

i have not found any thing lacking or in need of improvement at this time.

Review

I looked at all the mid-size SUVs and narrowed down to the Lexus 330 and the Rendezvous. I am a loyal Buick customer, but didn't like the looks of the Rendezvous. I was really impressed when the Rainier was available. It looks great and drives like a dream. I also got a great deal on the vehicle. Lexus refused to move off sticker price.

Favorite Features

Comfortable ride. Plush interior and so many extras that are standard on the vehicle. I also got a free year of On-star with the purchase.

Suggested Improvements

Still waiting on accurate mileage. Too new to tell, but it looks like it's running around 19-20. The cargo mat doesn't lay flat when the net is in use because of where the hooks are placed, but not really a big deal.
