>he tells me that the gas tank is going to have to be dropped (he can not do this job). You need to diagnose first. An engine code is just the symptom. What is causing a problem. I don't know what P0496 is indicating that is a gas tank problem. It means "flow during nonpurge." I take that to mean a leak in a hose, a gas cap that's not on ... Read More

2005 Buick LeSabre Limited
Written by: dottie007 on Mar 29, 2010 9:34:45 AM
My Service Engine Soon Light is on. I had my nephew (mechanic) check for the code and it is EBP P0496, he tells me that the gas tank is going to have to be dropped (he can not do this job). He told me to take the car to the dealership and get the job done. How much is this going to cost me? Does anyone know?

I have a 97 Buick LeSabre and the vibration issue has returned again but under the same certain scenario. The previous time 2007 it began shaking after driving down out of the Colorado mountains after many miles of braking...result was new rotors and brakes. Now after driving out of the mountains of north arizona the vibration has returned. Do you think the strut replacement is the better move this time? It ... Read More

What shocks and struts did you put on? Brand and model? How do you like the ride compared to the original? My car has 90K and I'm beginning to think about replacements in 20-30K

I have the 2005 Buick lesabre that had the vibration at 65-70 MPH. I tried every thing that I could think of to stop the problem. The dealership said they could not find any thing wrong. We changed the tires to the Michelin Harmony had the force tested and nothing help. Them a mechanic suggested to change the front struts and rear shocks’. This took care of the variation. I have ... I'm glad you mentioned them on you 05. I have an 03 with Symmetrys on it and I want to put the Harmonys on as I wear them out two-by-two. I have Harmonys on my 98 leSabre.

FWIW, Michelin Harmonys stopped the vibration in mine. I love these tires. Quiet, good traction, great ride. Had them on 1.5 years and 21K miles.

Mys 2003 Les with cheap Goodyears has no problem, there are tsb's out there about the issue relating to this being more prevalent with the lite weight suspension components, as mentioned a road force balance is important and there is even a suggestion of replacing front hubs and bearings.Even a slight runout is felt in the car.

Which Michelin tires were put on? Was the car aligned correctly? Has the car been driven with the vibration analyzer attached to various parts to diagnose the vibration type? Were the wheels force-balanced on Hunter 9700 by someone who knows what they're doing? Preferably a GM dealer who knows what's needed for trouble-shooting the vibrations in the stiffer frames with lighter parts in today's modern cars?

I have a 2004 Buick LeSabre with the same problem. I have been to the dealer again and again. Sometimes they tell us we are nuts, there is no problem; sometimes an honest technician says, yeah, this car has that problem and we don't know how to fix it. They have even tried new Michelin tires. I have initiated a Lemon Law complaint with our state attorney general's office. BBB Autoline ... Read More

Thanks Imadazol97, I don't know why Buick would drop the cabin air filter. Really keeps the interior cleaner. I'm asking my dealer for a holder.

The filter was omitted after 02 with little fanfare. You can buy the plastic skeleton holder which snaps into the heater box and it comes with a filter. You might try aftermarket but the skeleton is probably a dealer only item. The filters are about $18? at PepBOys-Purolator.

Wjohns02, Do you have a cabin air filter installed? Did it come with the car? I just purchased a 2005 Limited Prestige with the Celebration package, but no cabin air filter. Jim.

Which size wheels and tires do you have? The 60 series tires tend to be stiffer. The problem is a known problem due to lack of tire quality and the lightness of the suspension parts and the rigidity of the car chassis-someone told me it's based on the original Aurora and Riveria. The tires needed to be Road Force balanced using a Hunter 9700 balancer. If your dealer doesn't have one, ... Read More

I have a 2005 Buick Lesabre with less than 10,000 miles. The car has a consistent vibration at highway speeds even though we have tried a new set of tires and a complete rotation and balancing of the tires. The dealer indicates there is no problem with the car; however, the vibration persist. Is anyone else having this problem?

Good-Bye LeSabre

2005 is the last model year of the Buick LeSabre. I currently owned a LeSabre and its a very nice automobile. Its a shame GM did not invest more into the LeSabre to keep it competitive with the new Avalon, 300 and Charger full size sedans. The LeSabre was the best-selling full size car for many years and was manufactured for more than 45 years by Buick. Good-Bye LeSabre.

Wind Noise - 2005 LeSabre

We purchased a 2005 Buick LeSabre. At 40 MPH you begin to get a wind noise. As the speed increases, so does the wind noise. There is no wind coming into the car. It is an exterior noise, but it is so loud that it bothers you. Even if you put on the radio you can still hear it. It is almost like driving with your window down. We have owned ... Read More

All of the information on that Popular Mechanics page is wrong. The Regal and Century will be replaced by the 2005 Buick LaCrosse, which will continue to use the FWD W body platform. The LeSabre will be redesigned for 2006 (but will remain on the FWD G body platform) and get a new name and probably an optional Northstar V8. There may (but not yet confirmed) be a large RWD Buick ... Read More

Artist impressions Buick 2005/6

This is the Popular Mechanics site. It takes a while to load (at least on my hand cranked computer)so be patient. Then scroll down the page. There are lots of "spy photos" on all makes and ...
