About 6 weeks ago I traded in my 2000 Monte Carlo with 220,000 miles in on a 2008 Buick LaCrosse Super. Partly because I feel in love with the LaCrosse as soon as I saw it but mostly because I didnt feel my Monte was very reliable anymore. Tomorrow I am taking the LaCrosse into the dealership for the second time since I bought it 6 weeks ago. 1st time was ... Read More
Hi Car_man, Hoping you can help me. I'm looking at a 2012 Buick LaCrosse Premium II package with AWD. MSRP is $42,130 including Destination Charge and deduction of the $1,500 cash offer. I tried calculating a lease payment for 39 months at 1.1% with a 44% residual on a price of $39,700 (True Market Value) and I'm coming up with a monthly payment of $583 which seems awfully high. My current ... Read More
I got an estimate today for $450 to replace the defective intermediate shaft in my Buick. I am upset because there is no recall for this part and it's defective in, not only Buicks, but the following GM models: 2001-2004 Buick Regal, 2005-2008 Buick LaCrosse, 2000-2008 Chevrolet Impala, 2000-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, and 2004-Pontiac Grand Prix. Dave, my 2011 Lacrosse also vibrates at 1500rpm when in park. I bought the Lacrosse because I can tow it behind our motorhome, 4 wheels down, just start (pushbutton) the engine, shift to neutral, stop the engine. Most automatic vehicles you cannot tow 4 wheels down, you have to go to a manual transmission. After having the baseplate installed on the car for the towbar attachment, and towing the car for 1 ... I don't usually reply to my own posts but after Googling around a bit I found this interesting exchange link title in the Enclave section of the Buick threads in this town hall forum. I would have thought that Buick would have corrected by now what is reported there in 2008 and 2009 model year vehicles. The descriptions of downshifting, etc. are very similar to what I have been experiencing. Has anyone ... Read More
I test drove both the Lucerne and LaCrosse before purchasing a new 2011 LaCrosse earlier this week. The Lucerne rides like the Cadillac DTS I recently had- very comfortable ride. I have heard the Lucerne is going to be phased out soon for another model. I have not heard the LaCrosse is going to be replaced. I liked both cars very much- but the LaCrosse handles like a sports car ( ... Read More
Wow! You are right- this should not have happened to a 2008 Malibu. I traded in a 2010 Malibu with 20,000 miles on it for the LaCrosse. I actually had a new 2006 Cadillac DTS that I traded in on the Malibu- I wanted something smaller with better gas mileage ( on the highway was getting 37 MPG on Malibu). 2010 Buick Lacrosse CXL 3.0 v6 FWD with comfort and convenience pack #2 and chrome wheels. Picked off dealers lot. I drive 35,000 miles per year so ride and quiet are # 1 priority for me.( Previous cars Infinity I 35, Avalon, and 2008 MKZ.) My opinion---The Buick Lacrosse surpasses all in the ride and quiet category. The Ice-Blue ambient lighting is a great touch. The car handles well, has enough ... Read More

I had what sounds like the exact same symptoms on my 2002 Grand Prix. Turned out that some sort of wiring harness to the right front wheel ABS/TC equipment needed to be replaced. Besides the warning lights coming on intermittently, it turned out that the ABS was activating periodically, causing the "grab" and "grind" that you mention, generally when I braked and turned the steering wheel at the same time. The 2010 Buick LaCrosse, unveiled earlier this year at the Detroit auto show, will have a starting price of $27,835, General Motors has announced. The entry-level CX model features front-wheel-drive and a 255 horsepower motor. The CXL, which features a leather interior and more luxury features, is slightly more expensive at $30,395. All-wheel-drive is a $2,175 option. The range-topping CXS features AWD standard, plus a more powerful 280 hp V6. Buick ... Read More

We don't have a 2008 LaCrosse, but my wife and I bought a 2005. We are the original owners. It now has 19,000 miles. We both love the car, and it has never had any reliability issues. The 3.8 engine may be the most reliable engine in the world. We would buy another LaCrosse in a heartbeat. I think that the Avalon is overpriced, and I think that the seat bottoms ... Read More
I can't believe that Buick wouldn't spend the extra money to include the newer platform radios (with auxiliary MP3 audio inputs) in a luxury car like the LaCrosse. How can they? Every year many new features are introduced on new models. No manufacturer can keep making yearly changes on their carryover models. It would cost them billions to do it. Buick uses the older radio platform that did not have the input port. Simple as that. The new platform does not easily fit into the old space and GM did not want to spend the money to make it fit midway thru the LaCrosse lifecycle. if sound quality is of primary importance to you, consider seriously moving up to the LaCrosse CXS model as it's 3.6l engine, transmission and twin mufflers are so much quieter than the CX/CXL models. At least take both models out for an extended test drive and bring a selection of your favourite CDs with you to assess the sound differences. I have a 6 speaker sound system on my CXS and it ... I realize this thread compares Azera vs. Passat vs. LaCrosse but if you are going to throw a Buick in the race, throw in a good one. I disagree with 62vette.....the ipod and other MP3 players were quite popular by the early 2000s. Car manufacturers were quite slow in getting with the program, but by the time of the Lacrosse's debut, a number of competitors were rolling out their new midsized sedans with mp3 capability (Passat, Camry, most of the upscale imports). I ordered a 2008 Buick LaCrosse Super in July (with the Red Jewel Tintcoat color) and took delivery in August. So far, I'm very happy with the car's performance. I made three 0-60 runs on a seldom used frontage road and measured 5.5, 5.7, and 5.8 seconds with my stopwatch. So the car is very quick! However, I did notice some torque-steer while mashing the gas pedal during the runs, but ... Read More

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/26/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-buick-lacrosse-su- per/ With all these things on our mind, we found the LaCrosse Super to be a vastly different vehicle from the base LaCrosse, and were pleasantly surprised at what the Super brought to the road. The performance gurus took a pillow-soft platform and made it stiff and compliant by using much stiffer Bilsteing monotube struts. Steering was also tweaked, and the brakes were up-sized. The result is a Buick that ... Read More

Dropping the IP would be sure hell and no one would attempt it. 1/8" is actually not that bad. BUT, someone may try and lift the door trim slightly if you really wanted to do that. Is the door on the outside OK or is it slightly dropped from the fender in the front. Not sure if an adjustment there would do it also.
Recently, I noticed the instrument panel is mounted too high (about 1/8 inch) on the drivers side relative to the door trim. I noticed the same defect on two or three other cars I examined. The right side is perfect. Perhaps 62vetteefp would know if this can be easily corrected? A service bulletin number would be great. Thanks Gordon, Toronto
I'm pretty sure they are held on with two sided tape from the factory. Seems like glueing them on would be a good way tofix.

I would guess that the Super (new fascia/grill/etc) will be introduced at Chicago or Detroit auto shows and then go into production early 2007 as a 2008 model. Buick has a bright future. LaCrosse in 05, LeSabre replacement (on same platform) for 06, Park Ave. replacement in 2007 on the new RWD Zeta platform, and Rendy replacement (on new Lambda platform) for 2008. The Riviera will probably return sometime within the decade as well, on the same new Zeta platform. And the LaCrosse will eventually be replaced with a shorter version of the same RWD platform.
