  • By Buick Century 95 finally has been junked; looking at 2003-2005 models.?

    Written by: tlon7 on Feb 23, 2012 12:22:11 AM

My 95 Buick Centry ran great; never had more than typical maintenance, but the repair costs now are more than the car's value. Does anyone have extra carfax credits or other car history report credits I can use so I don't have to pay the fee? Thanks. I'm going to assume the ride of the more recent models is as good as my old 95. It felt like I was coasting. ... Read More

I bought this car when it had 22K on it and it now has 140K. Been very happy with it as the engine runs great and is very quiet and smooth--I often get 30mpg or sometimes even higher on the highway but have recently developed a hard shifting problem. When it upshifts I get a hard clunk as if the shift is delayed and then finally catches. I had the transmission ... Read More

The advantage I can see for an OEM cap is the fit. The check engine light will come on if the gas cap is not perfectly fitted. (detects air leak). Fit is *critically* important. The only installation issue I can think of is that the gas cap is tethered, so you need to disconnect the anchoring line from the cap. I don't expect this would be very difficult.

I have a 2003 buick century that I bought(for $475) with a known transmission slipping problem. It would not go into gear for several minutes after placing the shift selecter in drive. It slipped between gears and sometimes down shifted hard when coming to a stop and then pulling away. Most problems went away after it was driven for a while. The transmission shops quoted from 1600, 2200 and 4000 to ... Read More

Anyone know how to remove the rear seat of a 2005 Buick Century? I want to put some seat covers on. It should be simple but being a technopeasant I don't want to damage the seats trying myself not knowing how to do it correctly and I don't want to pay a dealer $75 an hour to do what should only take 15 seconds.

I have a Buick Century 2003. After getting my oil changed at a quick oil change place, they told me to turn the ignition key to the on position (without starting the engine), and flooring the gas pedal 3 times in quick sucession. The oil change soon light then starting blinking and went off. Apparently, this reset the computer. Hope this works in your case.

The headlights need to come from Regal/Buick models. You can use any headlights on that car from the years 1997-2005, as well as parts. I just bought one for my 97 Century for the driver's side from Ebay. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find a salvage yard that you can get parts from.

  • Used Century - recommendations?

    Written by: barnee61 on Dec 30, 2005 7:59:28 AM

Hi everyone. I'm considering buying a used Century, in the 2002 - 2005 range. Any recommendations as to what things to look for, or avoid? Also, I wonder if I could get some feedback regarding reliability and durability (long-term) of the 3.1 engine. I know that the 3.8 in the Regal is a solid, workhorse Buick engine, but I'm not really familiar with the 3.1. Isn't the 3.1 a Chevy design, ... Read More

I think the 16" chrome rims for the 2005 Buick Century special edition are the same chrome rims from the 2000-2002 Olds Intrigue. I was driving in Lansing, Mich. this evening (on s.b. Waverly Rd @ St. Joseph for those in the area) and pulled up next to a silver Century and though it was an Intrigue until I looked closer. The center lug cap has the Buick shield instead of ...
