Problems with trunk lights and/or remote trunk release from glove box or key fob? It looks like GM used the wrong grade of wire for the harness between the car body and the trunk lid - too few strands and too stiff for all that flexing during weather extremes. Once you start having trouble and find at least one broken wire, expect the others to follow. I had five break in ... Read More

Jerking when proceeding from a stop and occasional low whine from the transmission started in my Buick Century 2000 at about 60,000 miles. I was advised to spend lots of money for various repairs, none of which I did. Various reports of people spending $800 for fixes that didn't last put me off. Hi everyone! My 2000 Buick Century has developed a coolant leak at 114,000 kilometers Mechanic (non-dealer) says that intake manifold gasket must be replaced (and hopefully nothing more). GM put out a Technical Service Bulletin in March, 2003 for this problem recommending that "a new design intake manifold gasket" (different gasket material) be installed to replace leaky gasket. Has anyone been successful in getting GM to do repairs under warranty? Any ... Read More

I think the 16" chrome rims for the 2005 Buick Century special edition are the same chrome rims from the 2000-2002 Olds Intrigue. I was driving in Lansing, Mich. this evening (on s.b. You should keep all documentaion regarding the driveability problem and the dealer's attempts to correct the problems. Also, if the problems persist you should contact Buick's customer satisfaction dept( you can find the number in the back of your owners manual). When you call this ... Read More

We have a 2000 Buick Century that "ticked" when cold starting, which progressively worsened over time. After the dealership told us that all Buicks do that and it was normal, we confronted them with a technical service bulletin, so the dealership took the whole motor out and replaced the pistons. Now 1500 miles after the pistons were replaced, the car is missing/hesitating when leaving stop signs, and at highway speeds it's ... Read More

Just bought a 2001 Century Custom today for $11,999; 27,000 miles; rental return. Beautiful automobile. Amanda, I agree that 83,000 miles is very high for a 1999 automobile. Chances are that it was a sales person's car, and could have been well taken care of. The horsepower boost and the addition of a fold down rear seat in the 2000 Century are excellent enhancements. The only things missing, for my taste, is a touring suspension option and more responsive steering, as Buick offers in the LeSabre and the Regal LS. The advantage of the Century over the Regal is that it's got six passenger seating, and its dimensions are trimmer than the LeSabre's.
