Hi All, I have a 2008 X5 4.8 and am considering purchasing the extended maintenance program from BMW. I purchased the car as a certified pre-owned in early 2009 (~5k miles at the time) therefore am covered under the CPO warranty for 6 years. However wonder if maintenance program will provide the additional security and the cost seems to be equivalent to what brake changes, etc. will cost. Love to hear ... Read More

My son just purchased a 2009 x5 35D with 3800 miles on it and had a warning about his truck would not start atfer 180 miles because of the urea being low. He brought it back to dealer and they said they never heard of it because it was full.
I have a 2009 X5 Diesel only 3800miles so far I had taken the car to the dealer 6 times for a check engine light and they still havent been able to figure out what the problem is! However, BMW dealer is good at figuring out how to be rude and arrogant to the customer..has any anyone had the same problem?
We just sold our 07 X5 4.8i and got a MDX with the Advance and Entertainment packages. As much as we liked the X5, it had some issues that might just be attributable to being a first year model or a dealership that can't distinguish their arse from a hole in the ground, but they claim the vehicle was "confused" in terms of how the transmission downshifted when coming to a ... I have had two diesel BMWs (2009 and 2011 X5 35d) and I've had a total of seven X5s of various trim levels since 2001. I've had zero mechanical or warranty problems with any X5 since 2003. The diesels have been completely reliable. If you buy a diesel x5, I recommend the 2011 instead of a left-over 2010 for several reasons (even though the drive trains are essentially the same.) - ... Two things to note about the incentives on the X5 3.5d (diesel): 1) The Eco credit is $4,500 off whatever price you negotiate. It is price support from BMW North America directly to the dealer and is subtracted from the negotiated purchase price. Negotiate your purchase price and then expect the dealer to reduce the price further by $4,500. Do not allow the dealer to include the Eco credit as part ... Read More
I just traded a 2009 X5 diesel for the 2011 diesel. I expected the differences to be limited to bumper styling and updated iDrive (which is amazing and dramatically improved). But it was more. The 2011 is quieter (less road/exhaust/engine noise), the suspension is slightly softer, and the throttle response seems to be better because there's less diesel/turbo pause or hesitation before power is built. Those changes add up to a ... Read More

Sounds like expensive to me. This is what I got from my dealer: 2010 X5 3.0 - Premium, Technology, rear climate package, 3rd row seats. $5000 Initial down payment(includes first month payment, one month payment as security deposit) $605 per month(with tax it's $664 tax - california). 36 months, 12K miles /year. When you bought/leased the 2009 X5 Diesel, were you aware of the $1,800 tax credit? That certainly will help off-set the fuel costs. For comparison purposes, one of my previous X5's was a 4.8i V-8. I just wanted to be clear, the following is a loaner, not a used car. It is not certified, but would be sold with original BMW factory warranty ... so that's how this 2009 got 9,000 miles on it. I'm looking to make a deal on a 2009 X5 3.0 (9,000 miles on it) with an MSRP of $56,370 (Inovice $51,845). I'm thinking a fair purchase price would be around $45,000 ... Read More
I know its maybe a little off of a comparison as some might say the MDX isn't quite as luxury of a vehicle but its not a Honda it is Acura a luxury brand and they are about the same size. I guess the Porsche is considerably more expensive and with the same or less features of the MDX making it not worth it other then if you really like the ... Read More
I currently drive a 2009 Lexus RX350. I wasn't really taken with the looks of the RX either but it has grown on me to the point that I now prefer it's styling over the BMW X3. I chose the Lexus over everything else because of my outstanding experiences with Toyotas and Lexus reputation for reliability. I owned a 325i for 3 years and had electrical and transmission issues. It, along ... Read More
The transport fee is negotiable. Is it being flat-bedded or driven? I'd be willing to pay more if it was flat-bedded. The MACO and training are real fees that are on the invoice. The MF is being marked up by the max 0.004, so that could be negotiated to the base 0.0018. I would NOT put $7k cash down. If the car is stolen or totalled, that money is gone. I'd ... Read More

I work in Manhattan, and live on the island. We service our cars at BMW of Manhattan. They have the world's best Service Advisor, Salina Cancel. Whenyou make your appointment, ask for her. But be careful, they also have the worst service advisor, some guy name John. If you get him, find somebody else. What do you drive?
Where did you read in my post that I went back in second time. Once was too much!!! I have 2 BMW's and the family has a total of 4. We purchase or lease them from PACE BMW or DCH BMW of Bloomfield.
I have a 2001 X5 4.4i and have the same problem(failed oil seperator). My first broke down was in Jan 2008. I had a repair done and costed me $2200.00. Just one week later, my car broke down again with the same problem. The dealership repaired at no cost. Jan of 2009, it broke down again three times in two years. It was still under two years service warrenty. They told ... Read More
also does anyone know if we order a car to our specifications, do we lock in the 2.9% rate and get the two months payment? As per one dealer you can only lock in the 2.9% rate (prestige bmw) and as per hassel BMW you can lock in the 2.9 and first two months payment. no one gives you a normal answer. Can anyone shed any light on this?
tylerg2, that 52,500 i believe includes the $1750 discount. Another dealer told me that there is no $1750 discount on the x5 (its only for a lease). but i don't think thats true. Which dealer did you get your deal from? Mine is from bmw of teanfly.
btw...the 3.0's pickup is not great. The Acura and I bet the Lexus will blow the X5's performance away. I average 13.5 mpg on X5. To get better pickup you'll need the 4.4 and probably get 10 mpg
2 years ago I came out of an Acura MDX (old body design). I was rear ended and car was totaled. I decided to switch to X5 because I also liked the body. I should have realized that the Acura saved my life and it was problem free! A close friend was coming out of an X5 at that time and strongly advised me against it. I made a mistake. There ... Hi, I am looking for a new car and confused on what to buy. Although 350 is not comparable in size to X5, I have heard several negative posts about BMW in cold weather, steering problems etc. I have not owned either BMW or Lexus in the past. I am looking for some help... I love the X5 shape and heard BMW has great engineering. Thanks.
I think you can do better on the price. My 08 MSRP'd at 59950 and I got it for 52K even + TTL. Don't think you will be able to negotiate on the interest rate, that's standard from BMW FS, but if you wait a few months I am sure it will drop to .9 on the X5s as well. Good Luck
This 2009 X5 3.0i (at dealer lot in Atlanta) is Monaco Blue with Saddle Brown Nevada leather interior and has the following options: Premium package Technology package Cold weather package Rear climate package Satellite radio iPod/USB Smartphone integration MSRP is 57,020. I do understand bmws handling. I've driven bmws best suv, which is the bmw X6, and I know how well it handles, but when your best friend works at a bmw dealer, and advises you not to buy it, that does put a doubt in your mind, doesn't it? Well, the RX2009 has big discounts, up to $9k from what I've heard, around $32k for a new 2009 rx.
