I made the mistake of buying a used 2003 BMW X5 from Carmax in Feb. 2007, with the extended warranty for $1,800. Since having the car, it has stalled in traffic about 13 times, massively shakes when the brakes are applied, and the transmission is slipping. I have a 2007 X5 3.0. My check engine light came on at near 50k miles. The dealer 1st said it was a loose gas cap! the truck has been at the dealer 8 times with no fix yet. They replaced the gas cap, reprogramed the computer a couple of times and now BMW wants to test the gas tank and possible replace! I'm having constant dead battery problems on my X5. I've been to the dealer several times, one time replaced the battery completely (under warranty). Still no positive results and it's still dying. It's to the point that if I don't drive it for a couple of days I'm planning to have to jump start it. I can't see how I'll buy another BMW again. Read More...

I have an 07 X5 and just recently, I went to go start it on a Monday morning (after not driving it for only one day) and it wouldn't start. My only test drive was in a 2007 GL320 CDI. I was not thrilled with the 7 speed transmission. I don't know if it just takes getting used to or not. When I was exiting the Freeway it would not just coast to a stop. It would down shift and slow you down faster than I was used to. It had more than adequate acceleration. I have a 2007 bmw x5, and the last two weeks here in the Seattle area, we've been hit with snow storm after snow storm and not its icy.
