I made the mistake of buying a used 2003 BMW X5 from Carmax in Feb. 2007, with the extended warranty for $1,800. Since having the car, it has stalled in traffic about 13 times, massively shakes when the brakes are applied, and the transmission is slipping. I foun d the recall email from 6/14/2001, I called the BMW hotline at 1800-831-1117 they said my VIn number was not involved in this recall. I purchased this vehicvle in April 2003. We considered another XC90 but kept it as a fourth choice behind the MDX, X5 and Q7. Do not misunderstand me; the XC90 is a good vehicle. In my opinion, it has a classic exterior design, great V8 engine, good cargo capacity, and the general sense that if you were in an accident, you and your passengers would survive. Just bought my wife a 2008 MDX Tech/Ent and we love it. I have owned BMW's over the past 12 years including my current 2003 M3 convertible BLK/RED interior and I truly think that the MDX drives like a European car/suv. Hi, I notice this morning that my Nav screen won't turn on. The radio controls seems to work but there is no screen whatsoever. When I turn off the car and restart it, I noticed that there is a quick flash on the screen but that was it. The BMW logo didn't even appear like it usually does. The selling price that you were quoted for the X5 that you are interested in appears to be around $2,000 over dealer invoice plus the dealer is marking up BMW Financial Services' acquisition fee by $200.
