    Congratulations on getting your X5. I got my 2003 Certified pre-owned 325i back in 2005. The free maintenance was good till 2007. I extended it for two more years till 2009. You won't get all the benefits for the extension. You will have to pay a minimum amount whenever your car is in the dealership for maintenance although you don't have to pay anything that has to do with warranty. Also, ... Read More

    I have had two diesel BMWs (2009 and 2011 X5 35d) and I've had a total of seven X5s of various trim levels since 2001. I've had zero mechanical or warranty problems with any X5 since 2003.     I was at the dealership waiting for my X3 and the person next to me was waiting for his X5. He said that he had bought it brand new about two years ago for over $60,000 and he said it was in for service on average once a month. He was done with BMW. I am done with BMW. That makes three of us.

    I've had many BMW's. You are not experiencing something out of the ordinary for a BMW. BMW's, and many other late model luxury type cars, continue to operate a lot of electronics (alarm, motion detectors, some ventilation, etc) even when the car is turned off.     I received a similar email from the internet sales manager at Allison BMW. It applied only to in-stock vehicles (except M's). They only had X5 3.0's in stock and 2003 4.4's. I think that deal expired. I ended up ordering a 2004 4.4 from a dealership that gave me a little discount off MSRP.

    My apologies for this not being about the X5, but I see nowhere else to post this question. Does anyone know when the X3 will be available? Some of the auto publications suggest that it will be available in 2003. I called the sales manager of my local dealer and he said that it would not be available for 5 yrs.

That is too much to spend on an X5 (or any reasonably priced car for that matter) If this is, in fact, the best deal you can find, it may be because X5's are at a premium right now.
