FWIW people seem to be handling this problem individually. Some have said that they made a deal to turn in their malfunctioning AT for an MT or had it bought back in its entirety. I do not know for sure what is true and what is just babbling on the internet. At any rate, no one can tell me what the difference is between an actual MT and driving the AT in MT mode. I agree with your frustration. The X3 is doing nothing to help BMW's image. The suspension problems and the herky-jerky transmission in a premium car are absurd. 2009 X3. The acceleration is jerky. It starts and stops and then finds a gear. It sometimes cannot move forward for awhile. Sometimes it has trouble finding R. Intermittent problems all. I do not know if you have the same transmission in your 330xi. Do you have an excessively strong engine brake? I have to accelerate into turns now as it will come to a complete stop ... Read More...

You're going to get killed either way, today, tomorrow, or 6 months from now - pick your poison. You have an '09 x3 that had an MSRP somewhere in the $40K ish neighborhood. The dealer has to buy it back from you and sell it at a profit for significantly less than a new '09 X3 (0 miles). If you are truly unhappy (and it seems like you are), then shop the car around. I do not see a folder for Prices When Sold and Selling Experiences. Does anyone know when it makes sense to sell a brand new 2009 X3 AT in favor of a different car from a different manufacturer? I have poor gas mileage on my brand new 2009 X3 AT. As with the poster from two years ago, I wonder if the transmission issues contribute to the poor gas mileage.
