I have a 2007 x3. BMW North American paid to have my sheared engine bolts replaced in late August 2011 with upgraded bolts. We have 78k miles. This is a known issue. This reportedly did not damage my water pump. My advice to you is to complain about the bolts and get them to at least pay for the bolts. In my opinion they should pay for the pump too. Our ... Since I have a 2007 BMW X3 with all the same problems mentioned that I bought certified pre-owned, what are the legal ramifications of these problems? Do I have any recourse with BMW? The original factory warranty expires in April 2011 so I am trying to do anything I can before then. More importantly, it is very concerning that my car is unsafe to drive. We leased our '08 X3 for $440/mo. + tax.. but, yours must be really, really loaded, because our X3 only stickered for $44K or so... It's my wife's car... but, I don't like the transmission, either..
I hate the navigation system as well. It only has like 3 colors. I paid 50 thousand for my X3. I am wondering how much people paid for their BMW X3. Mine has all available options installed. The BMW X3 hasn't impressed me at all. It needs more features, it doesn't even have parking sensors or back up cameras. I own a 2008 BMW X3si. My premium sound system sounds like ... Read More
More importantly, what options does it have? Is that $23,9 their asking price? Just to help you gauge, I recently turned in a 2007 lightly optioned (metallic paint, heated seats, rear privacy glass, nc steptronic) with 45,196 miles on the clock. The dealer offered to sell it to me for like $21,600 as a used car, but then wanted another $2995 to make it a CPO car. I don't think the ... Read More

Roadrunner, you seem to be very knowledgeable about BMWs. In February, I purchased a 2007 X3. It is my first German car, first BMW. I do see now the extreme difference in handling and riding between Japanese cars and the BMW. I absolutely love the handling, braking, and ... Read More
Hi all, My 2007 BMW X3 (~36k miles, premium, winter, xenon, heated wheel) has a $29500 residual at the lease end. For how much do you think I could buy this car and with whom (and how..what to say, etc) I should negotiate (dealer or BMFS) ? thank you all for your help.
Lots of bad reviews? Like Edmunds.com citing it as the best-handling and most fun-to-drive crossover on the market? Almost all bad reviews were on the original 2004~2006 models when equipped with sport package. From 2007 the ride was smoothed greatly, and without the sport package the car is still very firm, but is not in any way bouncy. There is no comparison between an X3 and a Lexus RX. Its like ... FWIW people seem to be handling this problem individually. Some have said that they made a deal to turn in their malfunctioning AT for an MT or had it bought back in its entirety. I agree with your frustration. The X3 is doing nothing to help BMW's image. The suspension problems and the herky-jerky transmission in a premium car are absurd. The problems are intermittent which not only makes them difficult to diagnose but also makes working around them impossible. The dealer felt the ride problem when I drove with them but not when they drove by themselves. Due Diligence? Stop blaming the customer. Why is it your fault or my fault or his fault for this psychotic transmission. Blame BMW for making this ridiculous car AND for saying that this is normal. Normal? The only reason to buy a BMW is for its ride. The X3 does not have the ride so it is an over priced, under performing HOJ.
Mine is an ultra crappy transmission and drive "quality" that BMW says it's normal and cannot do anything else for me. But looks like your's is a malfunction. Can we hear your purchase process? Did you do any DD on this. Did you do any research in the internet? Still wish they can fix it for you though. Good luck!
I have poor gas mileage on my brand new 2009 X3 AT. As with the poster from two years ago, I wonder if the transmission issues contribute to the poor gas mileage. Since you are new to the world of leasing, you definitely should check out the following informative articles that are available here at Edmunds.com prior to visiting any dealers: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment. The first thing that I noticed about your deal is that you plan on trading in your current vehicle when you lease your new one. There's nothing ... Read More
Hi 4kids. The dealers that told you BMW offers Memorial Day specials were just trying to get you to come in so that they could sell you a vehicle. BMW did not do anything special for Memorial Day. Its June lease program for the 2007 X3 is very similar to its May program. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
I too have an X3 I picked up in 2007. It is unlikely that our cars have different trannys. I have driven the car on the Autobahns and the roads of New York (130 mph and 10 mph average) and do not have the problem. One thing I realized that th gas pedal of BMWs offer a lot more resistance than other cars. For example, just today my wife commented that ... Read More
I am not sure what the folks who are complaining were driving before they got their X3. People driving V6, especially American cars, are used to flooring it and that is what might be causing th e problem. I have a 2007 X3 and do not face any thing which is unexpected. If you like to floor it, drive it in the sports mode. It will Start in Gear 1 and ... Read More
I noticed quite a few of the new 2007 BMW X3s are having transmission problems. Did you guys noticed anything wrong when test driving it? Or were you so focused on identifying the shortcomings of the LR2 all the while praising all the good points of the X3 that it was overlooked?
True. You experience that when going to concerts or sports events. Somebody is actually sits down that is shorter than you and they block your view. Very strange freaks we are. I agree with you, my father-in-law is 6'3" and brother-in-law is 6'4" and neither one has their head into the headliner of the sunroof. At that height you might as well poke your head out the window or out the ... Read More
I doubt it. I keep meaning to send a letter to the editior to point out all the problems and I have just been too busy. I need to send you an email too and I keep forgeting when I get home.
I wonder if the author ever reads these blogs, and if so, if they would ever publicly acknowledge the errors in the article.
If they tried to take the X3 into the same off-road situation that a LR2 can go through then the X3 would be broken. The service advisor at my dealership is almost 6 foot 4 and he fits fine in the LR2 but he doesn't fit in the Range Sport. It all depends on your body type. I think Edmunds should retest the LR2 with another car and some other editors. ... Read More
I noticed you guys didn't mention the torque of the LR2, more headroom, legroom for both front & rear occupants, among many other of the features that make the LR2 a good vehicle in comparison with the new BMW X3. Land Rover did an outstanding job on the LR2 and can be loaded with price of less than what you'd pay for just for the base BWM X3. The BMW X3 ... Read More

Thanks siuside :) . The money factor that you were quoted for this truck looks good to me. It is right in line with BMW Financial Services' current buy rate for this model. I personally would want more of a discount on it though. The 2007 BMW X3 that you described has a spread of at least $3,500 between its full MSRP and its dealer invoice price, but you are only ... Hi z0rglub. As long as the demo vehicle that you are interested in has never been titled it should still technically be considered a "new" vehicle and it would be eligible for BMW Financial Services' special lease program. The money factor that you were quoted looks good to me. I actually believe that BMW FS' new May buy rate for the 2007 X3 is .00215 with the payment of a security ... Read More
Hi proth. BMW Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 BMW X3 with 15,000 miles per year are .00215 and 65%, respectively with the payment of a security deposit at lease signing. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
Hi jimabood. The selling price that you were quoted for the X3 that you are interested in is around $1,800 over invoice. If you are in an area that has a decent level of competition, you may want to shop around to see if you can do a little better than that, say $1,000 over. There's no guarantee that you will be able to, but it doesn't hurt to try. Make ... Read More
