BMW X3 Chemical smell in passenger compartment

I have a 2004 2.5 X3. For months now I have noticed a strong acrid chemical smell in the passenger compartment of the car. I notice it most often when the car has been sitting and with all the windows closed for a period of time. This is the dealer's asking price. I decided not to buy after requesting the exact options through BMW customer service. They revealed that it had a smoker's package. You can still see it at Smythe European's (MB dealer) website. When BMW lists "smokers package" on its list of options, it just means that it comes with a lighter and ashtray. Hello All, One of the local luxury car dealers has a 2004 X3 2.5 with 29k miles for $26,000. As far as I can tell, it has: - Automatic Transmission - Premium Package(I think because it has steering wheel audio controls, auto climate control, power seats, and wood) - 18" sport wheels Is this a great deal? Hello richneedsaleas. A $2,000 discount on this truck is probably around $1,500 to $1,600 over dealer invoice, which is not bad but in an area like Connecticut (unless you live in a rural part of the state), you probably have a number of BMW dealers and I would not be surprised if you were able to beat this price by a little. What happened to your Service and Warranty Information booklet? The copy in my wife's 2004 X3 lists the Oil Service information on page 5: 1. Replace oil and filter 2. Reset SI Indicator 3. Samantha/kumari, you ABSOLUTELY can drive the X3 VERY hard. What sold me (more than a year before I actually bought) was the BMW X3 Ultimate Driving Event during the summer of 2004. I've driven BMWs continuously since 1983. My wife recently picked up a 2004 X3 2.5. Her two previous Bimmers were a 1997 Five and a 1998 Three. She liked the Five and loved the Three, but she REALLY loves the X3. The X3 engine is just about bulletproof and the rest of the mechanicals have proven to be pretty robust as well. We really weren't planning to buy anything, but here we are... It seems our dealer was offering past customers a $50 gift certificate for BMW accessories if you test drove a new E90, so we stopped by a couple of weeks ago. Oops! Upon further review, with the mirror control switch set to the left, the passenger side mirror will tilt down when I put my 2004 X3 in reverse. Also, the only place I see to get full text of all the service bulletins and recalls is at www.alldata.com/recalls and pay for a subscription for one vehicle.
