EDITORS' RATINGS OVERALL SCORE:

Overall

RATING

With the exception of a few design and "Why'd they do that?" ergonomic foibles, the M6 offers a rare, unique and involving experience for those who can afford it. This car showcases one of the most inspiring engines of all time, one of the most over-wrought transmissions, and handling as capable as most any large coupe sold today.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

There's nothing subtle about the dynamics of this car, but the M6 showcases one of the most inspiring engines of all time, one of the most over-wrought transmissions, and handling that's more capable and involving than almost any other coupe this size.

Comfort

RATING

Despite having a fairly stiff ride (even at the softest damping setting), the M6 manages to remain quite comfortable. Its combination of infintely adjustable seats and a quiet, leather-covered interior is superb.

Function

RATING

BMW's control logic, even for the most basic functions, is more complex than necessary and reduces the M6's function score. Still, there are bits of brilliance (the cruise control interface) mixed into the insanity (iDrive).

Design/Build Quality

RATING

Questionable design, exceptional build quality.

DETAILED PROFILE:

Image Enhancer There are a few cars in this price range that perform better, but few that will enhnace the image as much as an M6.

High Performer The M6 is a unique breed of performance car. It's large and heavy and still manages to communicate and be very, very quick.
