The ULTIMATE Ultimate Driving Machine

Review
BMW has for years been known as "The Ultimate Driving Machine" and the M5 is without doubt "The ULTIMATE Ultimate Driving Machine!" The E39 BMW M5 is an iconic vehicle, and deservedly so. A true wolf in sheep's clothing, with a tastefully understated exterior that only hints at the vehicle's performance capabilities and BMW Motorsport bloodline. The interior is designed with equal taste and the vehicle has ample room for rear seat passengers if required. The manual six speed transmission is a joy to manipulate, and thankfully this vehicle is equipped no other way. In essence, where other vehicles are manufactured for practicality, this vehicle is made purely for enjoyment of the drive.
Favorite Features
Effortless speed capabilities. This vehicle is capable of normal driving speeds without breaking a sweat. During highway driving, keep an eye on the speedometer, the vehicle seems to "want" to take off. The exterior is timelessly beautiful. The vehicle clutches the pavement during cornering.
Suggested Improvements
Beautifully styled, yet minimally functional cupholders. Poor city fuel consumption, but this must be accepted as a consequence of driving such a powerful vehicle. Small aerodynamic exterior mirrors leave larger than average blind spots. Most important; an expensive vehicle to maintain PROPERLY!

I've had the car for 2 weeks. It just absolutely blazes. The stock wheels are beautiful and the 4x exhaust tips give it a muscle car look. Understated, but it's a gorgeous car. The interior is fantastic. Leather everywhere, great seats and the Alcantra headliner is a really nice touch. I might just be driving M5s for the rest of my life.
Favorite Features
Power on top of power, pure V-8 acceleration, awesome handling, best interior of any car I've ever been in, big exhaust pipes, great stock wheels, can get mid-20s MPG in highway cruising.
Suggested Improvements
Try to get one w/the M-audio, it has better sound than the stock DSP system. Stop-and-go highway driving can be a burden, especially if you're new to the manual like I am.

I sold my E36 M3 after I bought this car. I loved the M3, but hauling a teenage daughter and her friends around, I needed a 4-door. This car not only is much faster than the M3 was, but actually handles better as well, in spite of the extra weight! Incredibly neutral and smooth. Just aim and turn, no fuss, no drama. The acceleration is not to be believed! Fantastic! The car is already a classic and I've been followed to my destination and complimented/quizzed several times by those in the know. I was lucky to find a one-owner with just under 31K on the clock. But then, I'd been looking for 6 months. You'd think it was right off the showroom floor by its condition. Absolutely love it!
Favorite Features
Effortless, endless POWER, comfort and STEALTH! Looks damn good, too! Four doors and real seating for five. The car makes it difficult to act one's age.
Suggested Improvements
Do I need to mention the cup holders? And those of you complaining about fuel mileage, I know that gas is rapidly approaching $4 per, but there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Drive the Kia to work. But you won't enjoy it.

Review
Awesome acceleration and braking. Matchless handling and space for a saloon/sedan. It's reputation goes before it and people still ask to see the engine, after all this time.
Favorite Features
No favourites, just love the beast in total
Suggested Improvements
Not possible without spending big bucks. Value for money was a major plus for this model. Not worth spending what would be a diminishing return

I bought this vehicle with 19,000 miles and drove it for 30,000 enjoyable miles! It's fast, comfortable, gets around 19 mpg around town, and handles like a true 4 door sports car. This series of M5 is now the bargain of the new century.
