Re: 2005 bmw m3 problems? [nickyc1974]
Here's a checklist for you: 3 Series Bugaboos However, with those low miles I wouldn't think too many items on the list would apply, so you may be okay. What I'd do if i were you is download this list of areas of concern and show them to the shop that checks out the car for you, and let them inspect these items. Some are minor, like valve cover leaks, and some don't apply ... Read More...
2005 bmw m3 problems?
I am thinking about buying a 2005 BMW M3 fully loaded with navigation with 48,100 miles. I was wondering if there are any known reported repair problems with this vehicle? The 2008 Consumer Reports Buying Guide saids it is a used vevicle that should be avoided. It reports transmission, electrical, power and suspension problems, but most of my internet research ... Re: Looking to purchase my first BMW [cotmc]
It reminded me of the previous generation 528i I owned several years ago. Exactly; I'm considering an M3 sedan for my family car, I consider it to be more of a hyper-fast grand tourer, much like an E28 or E34 M5. It certainly isn't an edgy corner-carving hooligan like the original(and still the best) M3. Maybe I'm too biased, but I thought my 2005 model was more fun ... Read More...
Re: BMW M3 Owners: Problems & Solutions [lostit3]
Karen: I bought my wife a 2003 M3 4years ago and just recently had to deal with the whole extended warranty scenario. I tried to buy the BMW extended warranty but as i bought the M3 from a dealership other than BMW they wouldn't sell it to me, they wanted to sell me their extended warranty which as i was sitting in the F&I guys office, I looked up while he was doing his sales ... Re: BMW M3 Owners: Problems & Solutions [KarenS]
I have a question. I just bought a 2005 M3 convertible with very low miles, less than 5,000. I have two more years on the existing warranty. I'm looking at possibly getting an extended warranty. Would any of you recommend this? I thinking of owning for up to 7 years. What's a good policy? Good price? Read More...
Re: new m3 owner needs advice [gmonkies]
This is a good book: http://www.amazon.com/BMW-E46-Service-Manual-1999-2005/dp/0837612772 What's a euro valve? Power steering hose is easy (usually) but $$$. BMW power steering hose prices, for the pressure side at least, are really expensive for a quality item. Return lines don't cost too much, maybe $40-60 bucks. Read More...
re: how ugly
Yeah ... I agree that this generation isn't as attractive as previous ones. Many people I know still find the design stunning but, for the first time, I've made cosmetic modifications to a car that I owned -- I added the AC Schnitzer rear spoiler, and I think it really makes the car. I didn't do anything to my E46 M3 though. Here are some pics with the spoiler: http://www.m5board.com/photopost/data/569/MG_1979.JPG ... Read More...
Re: Lighten up on the transmission, will ya? [kimchimofo]
I've got to ask, if you can shave 359 pounds out of an M6 (3,909 to 3,550 ?), can you help me? I'd like to lose about the same amount proportionally. ;) Seriously, how in the heck did you shave the equivalent of nearly 10% of the weight of an M6? Even a third of that would have seemed like a physical impossibility to me without taking a chain saw to the back seats and every ... Read More...
Re: 2006 M3 Convertible. Good Deal? [brodsky]
I was just in VOB BMW in Rockville, Maryland. They have a brand new red M3 convertible on their showroom floor. I wasn't interested, but when I commented that it looked nice, the sales manager said "we can make you a great deal", which I interpreted to be invoice or less. I would think you could do better on a used/demo M3, with 1,800 miles on it. At least in our area, ... Read More...
Re: 06/07 $911 Vs 07 $M3.. hmm [jmaroun]
The 2007 base model 911 is already out, notwithstanding Edmund's delay in getting info on their new car info website. My dealer (Hunt Valley Porsche in Baltimore) shows some 2007 911's in their inventory. Check their website. Comparing (speculatively) the 2007 911 to 2007 M3: Price: the 911 will be more, but how much needs to be determined. I got a significant ... Read More...
