BMW 7-Series Maintenance and Repair

Re: 2002 7 series [Mr_Shiftright]

This is going to be my extra car. My primary car is Honda Accord which has been flawless so far. I do around 250 miles a week in that car. BMW will be my extra vehicle for the weekend and will not get driven more than 25 miles per week. This is why even though it is not the most reliable machine I am contemplating purchasing one. As for that slide from 20K to 6K in 5years. I ... Read More...

Hunt for the red october!

After years of dirty looks and countless dreams, I have finally decided to hunt for a 7 series BMW. Unfortunately, my better half, to make the whole experience less rewarding and more difficult, have only allocated 20K for the purchase. I am painfully aware how "small change " it represents when it comes to this particular make and model, but since changing wife ... Read More...

Re: Help me analyze the options here [Mr_Shiftright]

Okay - I am going to checkout the 2007 I mentioned above. Thanks for all the tips so far. BTW - is the 750Li really as bad as some people refer to? I see sharply contrasting responses from people. It seems like some peope have had no issues, while others see frequent transmission/engine problems. I wonder why this car would have so many more issues compared to a high ... Read More...

Re: '03 745 Transmission bump when stopping [papsephus]

Sounds like a delayed and harsh downshift into 1st gear. Maybe electronic problem? They should be at least reading the trouble codes. Knowing the problems, would you buy again?

Ok, now that everyone is scaring me, I have to ask: how many of you would buy again? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? I ask because I'm looking at the 2007 750iL and a VERY attractive incentive. I'm also considering the LS460. Yeah, I know they're two very different cars: performance vs. luxury. But having owned an SC400 for 14 years w/o a single problem is very ... Read More...

Re: Feedback from owners [fsmmcsi]

I bought my 750i 2006 last August and have by now 14,000 miles. No problem to date, the car is wonderful. It came with the sport tires, luxury seats, premium sound, satellite radio, convenience package, self close doors/trunk. The Pirelli tires are superb, even in the Maryland winter. The car delivers excellent driving, braking, accelleration. You are always ... Read More...
