Thinking about a 2007 750i- Please Help

Hi all, I am considering purchasing a 2007 certified 750i. BMW is offering to cover all maint and warranty to 100k miles. I drove a 2007 750 with sport package, fairly loaded, I think I can get it for around 40K. An amazing car (at least during test drive). I am considering this vs. buying new Acura TL or looking for pre-owned Lexus LS(I know apples to oranges). I love the ... Read More

BMW extended warranty

I have a 2007 750LI with approx 39K miles. I was quoted by the finance department at the local BMW dealer that the extended bumper to bumper warranty, including regular service (an addtional 2 years of 100K miles) was $4200.00. Is this the going price? Will th dealership negotiate this price? Thanks for any assistance. Marc

I hate to blanket a car with a bad reputation, because things change year to year. What I can say with assurance is that earlier 750s have been problem-ridden and sometimes make it to the "worst used cars" lists. Part of this came from the V-12 engine, which now of course is a 760 option, not a 750 option. How much of all the earlier issues BMW has squared away by ... Read More

Lexus and Mercedes-Benz have their sales data on their websites and is as follows (I found Lexus data at Toyota website): Lexus link title The LS 430 and the all-new LS 460 reported combined sales of 3,613, an increase of 116.3 percent. Mercedes link title (You will have to select December's data) Sales of the newest generation S-Class were nearly double this month over last November (2,780 vs. 1,400) I wonder ... Read More

Of course it is a chink in Toyota's armor; I do not dispute this. However, it is quite a jump to say that Toyota and Lexus make more unsafe vehicles than any other manufacturer when that statement is not supported by the official IIHS press release or through an analysis of the data presented to the public via the IIHS database. The test in question is a rear-end protection test that ... Read More

This is actually a perfect example of incorrect reporting and spin. This article that you provided to us does not accurately reflect the data from the IIHS itself. The article clearly gives the casual and incurious reader the impression that Toyota and Lexus vehicles perform poorly in crash tests. However, the rear protection crash study is more concerned with head restraint and seat design and is only one of many tests ... Read More

I, too, look at AutoSpies sometimes to watch the posts. It's pretty hilarious. The people there are in constant fighting- it's like Lexus vs. Audi vs. BMW all the time! It's much more civilized here. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm assessing all the cars in the high-end class, from worst to best: Jaguar XJ: Old-world British charm just doesn't cut it any more. This car is beautiful ... Let 'em get the high-end V-8 X5 instead of the 7 Series. BMW's best interior is in the former. With a few options that I would want added to the base 2007 4.8 L V-8 X5, I came up with an MSRP of $74096, a true high-end vehicle. And yes, Tagman. That is exactly what I was attempting to convey about BMW's.

KBB: BMW edged out in resale values
Written by: syswei on Nov 29, 2006 1:55:46 PM
Sister brands Honda and Acura topped the latest list of vehicle brands with the best resale value -- an important measure for upscale car buyers -- edging out longtime leader BMW. Volkswagen, which moved up to No. 2, and BMW and its Mini brand, tied for third, also earned high marks in Kelley Blue Book's survey for the 2007 model year, as foreign brands took almost all the top honors. Ford ... Read More

Doc a "superior" luxury car doesn't come last place. At best it should have been 2nd or 3rd if were that convincing as a pure luxury car. What you're not seeing here is that the LS460L luxury wasn't superior enough to overcome its other flaws and on top of that it was priced at a very un-Lexus like 93K. That was only 10K less than the Benz, not the usual 15-20K. ... Read More

OK Pat and Kirstin, here is some very HELC focused material: This year, just 92 seconds passed before Neiman sold out of its 50 limited-edition 2007 BMW 6 Series convertibles, with a 500-horsepower engine and $139,000 price tag (trip to Germany included) -- the speed and the price set a Neiman record. On Tuesday, Saks sold out of its 20 "Saks Special Edition" CL600 Mercedes-Benz cars for $160,000 apiece within 7 ... Read More

the X5 has beautiful wood. Seems the wood becomes more plentiful in BMW's as the driving experience diminishes. In my 545, the wood is manly and handsome. There just isn't a lot of it. And it doesn't scream "success' at you. Understated tasteful elegance. The quality of wood one would expect at an upscale steak house. As an aside, saw my first Lexus GS350 today (dark gray ) parked in my ... Read More

Alright, let me come at it from a different way.

First, I am not well-versed in Auto-tranny cars, nor pure luxury cars, so maybe I am both a good and bad judge of this class. I don't expect much in the way of connection with these cars, dynamically. I feel you need a manual transmission for any depper relationship with a car other than pure transportation. The particular course I drove on was not flat, and was marked conservatively to make ... Read More

Ok, I'm back with my TOL Report!

After a brief floor plan lesson, I'm out to test drive, not eat pastries! :P There are 4 LS460/L to drive, 2 750i, and one S550 are available, so the line for the S is about 45 minutes. After a scoot in the IS350 (no MT 250 was avilable), I drove the 750i, as the line was shortest here. Had a approx. 500 ft. straightaway for what was labeled "Acceleration Run". ... Read More

There's an interesting early owner review on CL from a fellow who also owns a 2004 Phaeton and 2005 E55. He says among other things: 1. The Phaeton is bigger... 2. The Phaeton has more "road-hugging weight"... 3. The Phaeton cabin feels significantly wider, with commensurately greater shoulder room... 4. The Phaeton trunk is larger and more usable (our LS460L has the Tiny Trunk option)...[rear a/c and icebox] 5. A few ... Read More
