I have a 1996 750il (12 cylinder w.
77,000 miles) as well as the new 745il
(8 cylinder). The two cars are totally
different in ride and performance. The
750il is fast and is like riding in
your living room couch. The 745li has
an entirely different suspension and is
a much sportier ride.
I've yet to find ANYTHING I don't think
is wonderful about the car. The engine
is smooth as silk and has gobs of power
and torque throughout the rev range.
Interior is plush and ride just short
of cushy, givng a nod to the
performance aspect of the car.
The thing most knocked about the
vehicle, I-Drive, just isn't that hard
to pick up, especially if you use the
voice activation stuff on frequently
used business (going from AM to FM
radio, etc.), but it does require a
good 15 minutes of looking at the
manual to absorb all its capabilities.
All in all - a wonderfully grand
carriage with all the pep and handling
of most sport coupes.
Power and 20-way adjustable air
I wish you could get the car's manual
in the glovebox. Have to store it in
the seat back, the console, or a door
Fisrt its eye catching, the acceleration of this
vehicle is great, but you will love when you
are making shrp turns, you stay in youe seat
at a 60 miles sharp turn, it will give you this
type of reliabilty under any conditions.
The inside is owesome and is fun to drive,
people are always looking at your car, it gets
