Summary
What Edmunds.com says
The 6 Series may not have the sleek, sexy sheet metal of its Mercedes-Benz rivals, but its satisfying combination of performance, luxury and technology will put you on top of the world.
Pros
Nimble handling for a big coupe, smooth and quiet ride, endless power from ultrasmooth V8, elegant interior design, supportive seats, large trunk in coupe.
Cons
iDrive controller is improved but still a nuisance, small backseat, only one engine option.
Consumer Ratings & Reviews
I love this car
Vehicle
2005 BMW 6 Series 645Ci 2dr Convertible (4.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Drives like a dream, tremendous pick-up, wonderful sight lines. The top is quick and easy to raise or lower. The iDrive is easier to use than most reviewers seem to experience.
Favorite Features
The drive and handling are superb. I love the SMG gearbox and use only the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Suggested Improvements
The one cup holder is marginally functional. More storage space in the cabin would be nice, but is not really the reason for this car.
6 Series - Buffed Elegance
Vehicle
2005 BMW 6 Series 645Ci 2dr Coupe (4.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Great car. With the sport package, this is truly buffed elegance. I really enjoy the interior and the exterior design. Great sound system. As for the much maligned iDrive. If you don't enjoy being challenged by technology, don't get the iDrive. As for me, I am a techy, so I find the iDrive very functional and entertaining.
Favorite Features
Bucket seats are outstanding. External and interior design are enticing.
Suggested Improvements
Lighten this puppy up by using higher tech materials. And get better mpg out of this engine.
For the price nothing come close, except
Vehicle
2005 BMW 6 Series 645Ci 2dr Coupe (4.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
The only car the come close to the 645ci is a 545i. The design is excellent, ride quality is great, handling out of this world - what's to say more. Go out and drive one
Favorite Features
Adaptive steering, and seating comfort
Suggested Improvements
Base model should come 400hp auto trans need some work when in traffic. Black saphire paint not up to standard for the rest of the quality the car has.
Incredible Machine

Review
I had read all of the review and was a bit reluctant, until I drove this vehicle. For a vehicle of this size, it handles and corners amazingly well. Performance is outstanding! 0- 30 is strong; however, 30-100 is absolutely incredible and leaves most everyting in the dust. To top it off the ride is compliant, the seats are the most comfortable I have ever encountered, the logic 7 sound system is amazing - even at super legal speeds with the top down. The much maligned I Drive in now very intuitive - once you read the manual just once. This is the best car I have ever owned or driven! It you are looking for a great convertible - at any price - this is it!
Favorite Features
Sound system, voice activation - adaptive headlights that turn as you turn and the PERFORMANCE!
Suggested Improvements
Memory seats on passenger side. Why does a car in this price range not come with standard heated seats - come on BMW!

Awesome comes to mind. Great road handling, great pick-up speed, great sound system and a car that receives a lot of "double takes".
