    I believe PDK was the only "automatic" transmission offered by porsche starting in 2009 (although I'm not sure about the cayenne).

    I typically see the older ones stating Tiptronic, which is very different of course. According to wiki, the PDK could be had in the 2009 Panamera, and, believe it or not, there is another generation of PDK even after that. I don't believe you'd find it too common until the 2010 models.

    Thanks for the response. No, there was no explanation. The interesting thing is that they did recco the 535 in their 2009 April Cars Edition, but did not in the 2010 edition. BMW has shifted to a single turbo 300 hp this year. But I am glad to hear you have had no issues with yours.

    The new pump was part number 13-51-7-594-943. It superseded part number 13-51-7-592-881 in January of this year; dealers began receiving them in February. All of the 881 pumps in stock were supposed to have been returned to BMW. However, the 943 pump was superseded in June by part number 13-51-7-613-933 which is a re-manufactured 943 pump.     One of my friends is a service adviser at a BMW dealer and he's always been honest with me regarding BMW reliability issues. Just last week he told me that BMW's latest iteration of the HPFP may have well and truly fixed the problem.

    The dealer might have suggested waiting for a 3rd failure so that you could implement your state's lemon law option. Some owners who are members of the Edmunds forums have bailed on their BMWs using the lemon law, for this very problem.

    Could this be a problem with the twin turbos? Isn't that a new engine for BMW? I saw a beautiful 2008 535i at Bridgeport CT BMW that was sitting on the lot for about 3 months but I passed, because I just had doubts about those turbos. I went with the 530i, standard in line 6 cylinder and I love it.

    Thanks for the clarification. However, this High Pressure Fuel Pump problem is extremely dangerous when the incident occurs. I still enjoy immensely the BMW car experience, ( having 12 BMW's previously) . However, this issue takes priority because of the safety considerations.     Just received a letter today from BMW corporate acknowledging problems with high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) problems on 2008/2009 535i models, and as such is extending the warranty on the HPFP from the normal 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles, whichever comes first.     The delay and jump symptom sounds like an acceleration lag off the line. Lurching could be a fuel injector misfiring. With the misfiring, I was experiencing very rough idling and above 50 mph the car almost felt like it was bucking, which was the misfiring. The long cranking is a symptom of the HPFP.     Have you had a lawyer send a written notification to BMW NA? Depends what state you live in, but after so many attempts to fix an issue, the lemon law applies.     Generally it is a good idea to buy the car and not the deal So by your post you should try to negotiate E350. Having said that you might want to look into 2010 BMW 550i here in Southern Cal they are going for 10K off MSRP (@carsdirect.com)

    I've taken over two leases of cars I found on Swapalease. A 335i and a GL450 Good experience both times. I was given $1k in cash to take the 335 and $2500 to take the GL. Your guy has it backwards.

    Leasing a used car seldom makes sense. With you mleage requirements you should go with a new car 3 year lease just to stay within new car warranty. Good deal for a 2010 550 with similar options and $72K MSRP (no-charge value pack) should be around $900, maybe a little higher.

    I know what the problem is. You're trying to lease a 2009 car. That's a HUGE MISTAKE as the residuals are very low. If you want a 2009, you should buy it. But if you want to lease, get the 2010 and your payments will be much lower.
