I have been driving BMW's for 26 years. My current 2008 535Xi is being taken back by BMW through trade assist because of the HPFP malfunction with the twin turbo engine. ( This is the reason for the change to the single turbo engine in the 2011 535 and 335 models.) Apparently, 25-30% of these cars have this issue. ( According to BMW of North America) When it does malfunction, it ... Read More

Used 2008 535 observation
Written by: pcman on Sep 12, 2010 2:26:23 PM
For those interested in purchasing a used 2008 535... I purchased such a car one year ago. I bought it off the internet sight unseen from an individual. No CPO. It had 29k miles on it. Of course I made this purchase after driving lots of cars to see what i wanted to shop for. The BMW drove the best hands down. I looked at Infiniti G37/ M37/ M45, Audi A6, ... Read More

Before you jump at the 2011 535i check out this months cover story comparison in Car & Driver with the 2011 535, Audi A6, and Infiniti M45....the 2011 came in LAST! (When was the last time you saw a BMW come in last in any C&D comparison???) From what I can tell the 2011 is a step back from the 2008-2010 535is in terms of performance and handling. Re: 2011 BMW 528 Pricing [carbird]

Are you saying the 2011 528xi will now have RFT? I own a 2008 and the RFT were not standard. I live in NJ and with the roads not being the best with potholes from the winter especially, this is a negative for me. I have a friend who has the 18" RFT on this 2008 335 and he is on tire #8. He's more than happy he got the tire ... Read More

Could this be a problem with the twin turbos? Isn't that a new engine for BMW? I saw a beautiful 2008 535i at Bridgeport CT BMW that was sitting on the lot for about 3 months but I passed, because I just had doubts about those turbos. I went with the 530i, standard in line 6 cylinder and I love it.

Greg, That was terrific technical information. I looked at a beautifiul 2008 535i at Bridgeport BMW (CT) at the end of 2008 (CPO) had 27K miles on it, they were asking $38,900. it was black sapph, prem pkg, sports pkg, beautiful rims. I passed on it after a lot of agonizing because I just didn't think I wanted to get involved with twin turbos. That's a new engine, isn't it? The ... Read More

shyamy, yes, without more info it is hard to compare. But, without more info, maybe the price is somewhat high at this point in the 2010-2011 model year. I purchased a certified 2008 BMW 535i in October 2009, with 26,000 miles, for a couple thousand dollars more than what you have been quoted. I thought the price was fair then and now. The dealer also "threw in" a new set of ... Read More

I am sure that Edmunds forums helped me to get fair prices when I purchased a Volvo S80 in 2000 and a Lexus RX330 in 2003. Same for the 2008 BMW 535i I purchased last fall. And, I posted about my BMW buying experience then, including the price I paid. If someone found that helpful, good. If not, also good. I appreciate all the helpful info disclosed here and encourage others ... Read More

You are looking for the same vehicle as myself. I am in SW Florida but have not found the right color specification and price. Vehicles down here seem to be $2k more than those on the east coast of Florida !! For a vehicle such as you describe with 30k miles I would write a check for $32k today if it was CPO and met my requirements. Good luck and remember ... Read More

I bought a similarly equipped 2008 BMW 535i with about that mileage in Oct 2009 for $39,800, plus new tires, and other non-price concessions. I did check out 2008 528i pricing. By that time, the good ones I came across were in the $33k to $37K price range, with miles under 20K. My two cents worth. -- It is even later along now. My "guess" is that the mileage and time ... Both prices are very good compared to what I saw in the Research Triangle NC area over the last couple of months, including non-CPO, for more than you describe. Query: If this is a trade-in deal, have they given you good value for the trade? Are you financing with BMW? Is there room to get an even better deal. . . ? Good luck.

I just purchased a 528xi with Premiun, value an fold down seats at Bloomfield BMW here in NJ , the MSRP was $50,350.00, they sold it to me for $47,000.00 plus a $2,500 holiday discount on financing, so that's a final price of $44,500.00. This was by far the best deal out 5 dealers I called. If you are in NJ go to Bloomfield BMW they have the lowes price. And ... Read More

Sounds like a really nice car. IMHO: I would say that starting out at $44k is worth a shot, but I suspect you will have to go higher to make a deal. In my experience, BMW dealers "protect resale values" by not going low on the sales price of new cars. Or, should I just say -- they are going to make a profit (and a good one). I have noticed ... 2008 535

I would be prepared to play hardball and be prepared to walk away. I think that is the key. I had a 535 as a loaner and loved it, but I am concerned about the fuel pump problems BMW has had with this model and that the company now is extending the warranty on this for 120,000K. That doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. I think this issue affects resale and ... Read More

2008 535i advice needed
Written by: bdbd on Aug 13, 2009 3:27:29 PM
Hi, This is the first time for me to buy a bmw. I'm looking at a 08 535i with prem, cold weather packages, and only 6 miles. The dealer's list price is 43k. How much room do I have for negotiation? The dealer said it's a used car (moved from new inventory to used inventory in 3/09, so the original warranty starts in 3/09). Thanks in advance for any advice.

First Used Car/Concierge - Is it worth it?

Yes, our first used car is a 2008 BMW 535i with 26,000 miles on the clock: NAV, Cold Weather and Premium Packages, those wonderful adjustable seats, etc. Certified. Paid $39,800. The dealer put on a brand new set of Goodyear Eagle tires, paid for a year of Sirius radio, provided new mats (carpet and heavy duty), did superb detailing, and also threw in several other nice things. Good buying experience overall. ... Read More

Bought 528i CPO

After looking for a few months, I finally bought a 2008 528i CPO with 9K miles for 33600 plus tax & license. (plus new carpet mats & all weather mats). I test drove a new Lexus ES350, Acura TL, & Volvo S80, nothing came even remotely close to BMW's driving experience. I also bought the 2 year maintenance for 2195$ and got 2.9% financing. Is this a good deal ? I'm ... Read More
