    You likely have a component malfunctioning and not turning off properly which is discharging the battery overnight. There are ways to isolate this, but the average person doesn't have the skills or equipment to do it. The other main possibility is if the alternator or voltage regulator is defective. Curious to know if you purchased an extended warranty or maintenance plan on your BMW? Have you had any issues at all? I ran into a dead battery issues a month ago, but that's about it.     If you have comprehensive auto insurance it should cover replacing the electrical panels caused by water damage (less ur deductible). Best if your shop can move the panels to the left side of the trunk instead of their original location at the bottom of the trunk (because your drains will continue to have the risk of being clogged by crushed leaves if you use your sunroof at all). If they are located like mine at the lowest point of the trunk (under the spare tire), there may have been water collected from a blocked drainage.     My water damage came from clogged sunroof drainage caused by crushed leaves. The leaves that were blown in while leaving my sunroof vent open were crushed when the sunroof is retracte. Five electrical panels in the truck were all fried and need to be replaced. You may be able to detect rust or water underneath the spear tire. My insurance paid for the repairs due to water damage.     I have a 2006 530i and got the same problem, iDrive is dead due to water somewhere in the trunk, i have found 3 blown fuses but replacing them didn't help.     Thanks for the response. No, there was no explanation. The interesting thing is that they did recco the 535 in their 2009 April Cars Edition, but did not in the 2010 edition. BMW has shifted to a single turbo 300 hp this year. But I am glad to hear you have had no issues with yours.

    I agree re: CR; their surveys aren't even close to being a representative sample. The only problem with the E60 535i is, as mentioned above, the HPFP, and BMW now covers it for 100K miles- CPO or not.

    Same here w CR. I bought a 4runner which was on its most-reliable-ever list and nearly wound up lemoning it. The twin turbo BMW engines, which are in the 535 but not the 528, have had problems with high pressure fuel pumps failing.

    Hi, bought a similar 2008 528i with 23K yesterday. paid $29,3k. Because the 08s don't have the 2 payment and 0.9% that bmw offers on 07 CPOs, I found the 08s priced about the same or a bit lower than 07. Good luck with your purchase.

    I have similar problem on my 2008 BMW 535i where water/liquid inside trunck damaged caused module failure and as a result see TPM and Electric Malfunction messages.     Just received a letter today from BMW corporate acknowledging problems with high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) problems on 2008/2009 535i models, and as such is extending the warranty on the HPFP from the normal 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles, whichever comes first.     I purchased the 2008 528i untitled demo with 82 miles for $36,500. It has premium, cold weather, convenience comfort, xenon, ipod and a few other options. It has 45 months left on the warranty with 5k extension for a total of 55,000 miles. There are others out there like this car listed on autotrader. I found this BMW dealer in Topeka, KS who also is a VW and Porsche dealer.

    What dont you understand?? Tell the dealer that you want to buy down your money factor. By doing so you max out your security deposits. Any dealer will know what you are asking them. They may not like it, but that is their problem. Also, I am not sure BMW made the 535 in 2007. I believe that it came out in the 2008 model year.

    Both prices are very good compared to what I saw in the Research Triangle NC area over the last couple of months, including non-CPO, for more than you describe. Query: If this is a trade-in deal, have they given you good value for the trade? Are you financing with BMW? Is there room to get an even better deal. . . ? Good luck.
