    If it's completely dead you should probably go ahead and get a new battery. I've had good luck with Interstate batteries. The MTP-H7 is the one you want. And yes, if you don't drive the car very much I'd invest in a good battery tender, such as the one BMW sells.

    Just to add...... the most expensive service on the 01-03 5 series will be the SL2 60K mile service about $400 for the V6, $700 V8 you can shop around for BMW dealer specials and before 100K, you'll need a brake job, between $600 and $1200, depending your sport package options, size, etc. But if you get the maintaince done as scheduled, the driving experience outweighs the cost.

    I bought my 2005 Infiniti G35-6MT through fleetrate.com. I paid $1000 less than MSRP when all dealers were at MSRP. It was totally painless as the car was delivered to my house along with all the necessary paperwork to sign. I plan to use them again this winter when my wife's lease runs out. You do need to know exactly what you want though.
