Hey Tenet1, After the 530i my business parterner and I decided to launch a new niche business, and as part of that we opted to lose our nicer rides in favor of, ummm, errr, lesser mounts. Nice but not for me. Why? - I'm not a fan of the 2003 M5esque schnozzle for cars other than the M5 of course - The price is high for that many miles, the 2002 with 40,000 looks to be in better shape and about the same price. - I know others might disagree, but silver is not my favorite color on BMWs Thanks for lookin' ;)

The cost for my 2002 530i 5 speed sport package was approximately $1500 for items that would have been covered by BMW's extended maintenance or warranty programs which at the time cost approximately $3500. After factoring profit and commissions you can expect the average maintenance cost to be approximately half the cost of the extended maintenace/warranty programs. I typically follow the maintenance schedule recommended by Roundel/Bimmer's tech editor.

I was told by a dealer that the MF is 0.0014 for Feb (for a 36 month lease on a 530i), and he needs to add on top another 0.00015 if I don't want to put down any security deposit. But then I leased a BMW with BMWFS before (1999-2002), can that 0.00015 be waived? BTW, does anybody know the base rate or MF for the month of March? Thanks.

For required maintenance (i.e. oil and filter changes, brake and cooling system flushes and the first 30K scheduled service), I have no problem using the dealer. That said, even though brake jobs are effectively part of the "free maintenance" component of new BMWs, I would never use the dealer for those parts. Why?
