2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi
Re: What to buy: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi [upstatedoc]
Thanks for the replies so far. No real need for AWD, its just because BMW has the option. Meanwhile prices on 2007 TLs around here started to drop (end of year I guess). Dealers still ask for a lot more and wonder if the additional crap they promise is worth it. I have a friend who had an Infinity G35 and despite the good fame Infinity service has, they did not want to ... Read More...
Re: What to buy: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi [dualtrace]
Well, I had an '05 TL and am now driving an '09 328ix. Two totally different cars. Do you need AWD? If not, I would go with the TL, it's an absolute beast. I have to absolutely have AWD and Acura just doesn't offer anything that appeals to me. The new TL is a fugly behemoth. Too bad they didn't offer SH-AWD on the previous gen. TL, I would still be a customer. Read More...
Re: What to buy: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi [dualtrace]
I lease a 2007 TL with nav ( my 2nd TL ) and own a 2006 325 XI sport wagon/ nav and sport package ( my first and last BMW ). Don't get wrong the BMW is a great car to drive, and there is nothing like the BMW aura. But, the run flat tire concept is bad (see the BMW tire thread ) and the car just isn't that reliable - too many computer glitches. Not sure if the 05 has a dipstick, but ... Read More...
Re: What to buy: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi [dualtrace]
Just an administrative note, there's no need for separate discussions. This one appears under both the TL and the 3-Series so I removed the other one to avoid confusion. Read More...
What to buy: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2005 BMW 325xi
I apologize for posting this in both BMW and Acura sections, but I thought this is the only way to gather attention from both sides. I have a hard time deciding between 2007 Acura TL and 2005 BMW 325xi. The 2005 BMW 325xi is the last model year that has the old classic look that I love. Could not afford one at the time and felt really sorry seeing how they got changed starting ... Read More...
Re: BMW VS Everyone else [romboggie]
Most recent experience: 2003 X5 3.0 - awesome SUV, handles great regardless of road condition, very powerful but stiff handling, good acceleration at lower and high speeds, the engine roar sounds great. 2005 MDX - drives like a car, very comfortable and smooth, doesn not handle as well as X5, acceleration better at high speeds but fair at lower speeds. 2009 328i ... Best made BMW 325i?
I checked on CR and noticed that 2005 is the year that 325i has the highest rating.. why is that? I'm looking to get a 2005 or 2006 325i.. what are your experiences in these vehicles? My wife is currently driving the 2005 BMW X5 3.0 and we love it! It is also true that the best way to buy the used 325i is through a dealer that offers these as CPO? Thanks all!! Read More...

2005 330i - Is this a good deal?
I've found a 2005 330i with 69,000 miles. It has a sport package and 17" M wheels with the fold down 60/40 split in the backseat. There is still a remaining 100K CPO warranty that expires 9/28/10 on the vehicle. I had a BMW dealership do a pre-buy inspection. The car badly needs new tires, and the lower front control arm bushings need to be replaced. The mechanic also ... Read More...
Re: Newbie! [jtueller]
I recommend you stay away from Option A, the 2000 328i sedan. Consumer Reports says it is one of the worst cars to own, and I have to agree, having had one for six years. I replaced all kinds of major parts and didn't see an end. I finally traded it in for a 2005 330i. Some times Consumer Reports actually does get it right. I am not convinced they know their new cars, being ... Read More...

Re: 2005 325ci or 2004 325ci [donga]
The E46 3 Series has proven to be durable and reliable. The six cylinders need a water pump at 60K intervals but other than that there really aren't any major problems. The difference between the CR 2004 and 2005 reliability numbers is just statistical noise. I also recommend that you have the car inspected by a good BMW tech. The E46 3er is a great car, and there are ... Read More...
