New to the BMW experience...
I previously drove Nissan (Maxima), then Toyota (Camry) now driving a Volvo (S-80). At this point (finally!) I'm ready to switch to BMW. I'm thinking as a newbie, it'd be cool to start with a CPO (lowest price of the 3-series, sedan). Will I miss out on some spectacular new additions to the brand new model by opting for a CPO? Also, for CPO's, I'm wondering if the newer ... Read More...
Re: Decision Made on 335xi coupe [rfl]
I picked up my 335xi coupe on Tuesday!!! Its my 5th also, and so far so good with the Conti's...I reduced the pressure to 31 in front & 32 in back, and its not much different than my 2005 545...except, faster and more of a "me car"!!! I took the GE 3-yr wheel insurance and they discounted it for 695...i am very friendly with the service & parts director, after 5 Bmw's, ... Read More...
335i v G37...and the winner is...
After much hand wringing, pacing, rationalization, I have decided to go with... Not so fast! Let me first say that anyone who has to decide to choose between these two amazing cars is a very lucky person and I feel blessed to be stuck with such a hard decision. I haven't posted for quite some time but I can tell you what I will not be buying. Currently I have a 2005 Mustang ... Read More...
BMW 3-Series Prices Paid and Buying Experience
To Buy or Re-Lease
I'm coming out of a 3 year lease(12k/miles per year) on a 2005 BMW 330i.MSRP was $39k. AS per BMW Financial, the buy-out would be $22,200 the car would have 40K miles. I think the pay off is high and am considering leasing a 2008 328i coupe instead. I prepaid $17,250 for my first lease and want to prepay the new lease. What would be your suggestions? Read More...
BMW 3-Series Maintenance and Repair
2006 330i Maintenance New BMW Owner
I just bought a pre-owned 2006 330i (1st time BMW owner). Navigaiton, Premium & Sport Package with 20,000 miles. The in service date is November 2005. I would like to know the next service date/miles. At time of starting ignition the "service date/miles" indicator shows 10,000 6/2009. Obviously this is incorrect. Do I need to take the car in to a dealer so that ... Read More...
Re: Follow up - choosing G37 [frommx5tomz3]
frommx5tomz3 - Congrats on your decision! After your first lengthy, detailed and extremely thorough post, you had a lot of fans and people praising you for cutting through the hype and telling it straight. I'm curious to see how many of those (mostly) BMW will now balk at you for your choice. Frankly, yours was the natural choice that almost any rational person ... Read More...

Bike inside of 335xi with split, forward-folding seats; diesel model coming
First, I deigned to re-lease any car not providing enough interior room to accomodate a lightweight touring bicycle with front tire removed. I found that the BMW and Audi have such seats in a sedan, while my present 2005 G35 and previous Lexus' do not, and I have ordered a 335xi as of yesterday. Does a 335 with rear seats folded forward provide sufficient space for ... Read More...
GFT's Incompatible With 3 Series Suspensions?
Forgive me if this has been addressed. I have been advised by my SA that replacing the RFT's with GFT's is not recommended because the new suspensions have been designed for the RFT's. I am not an engineer, but aren't the tires considered "unsprung" weight? If so, should the use of GFT's have a negative impact? (I replaced the RFT's on my 2005 330xi and have been more ... Audi A4 Avant vs. BMW 3-Series Wagon vs. Mercedes C-Class Wagon
Re: A$ vs 328xi [georgek2]
It's been a brutal week in car-search land. We've been visiting relatives in Florida all week (I live in NY) and thought this would be a perfect week to find a car and, if we bought one, drive it home. Didn't go so good. The 2005 BMW 3-Series Wagon that I thought was the answer to my problems turned out to be a non-starter - I couldn't possibly put my 95+ lb. dog in the back ... Read More...
