Re: 2002 BMW engine fire (fatal) [wolrag42]
I'm sorry about your terrible loss. You'll want to contact the NHTSA to report this fire--and stay on them to follow up as they tend to be questionably competent, at best. Here's their website: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm Also, did your car have a manual transmission or an automatic? The reason I ask is that the manual cars had only a single, ... 2002 BMW engine fire (fatal)
I lost my 21 yr old son July 2009 when he fell asleep in our 2002 BMW 330 with the engine running. The car caught fire after idling for one hour. Investigation showed cooling fan failure. I read that 2001 3-series had same problem with massive recall. Anyone heard of same problems with 2002 cars? BMW refusing at accepting any blame or taking corrective actions. Do ... Read More...
Re: BMW 325i 2006 Service Light [wynn3]
That's lame. It's not normal. So long as there's nothing else the matter with the engine, the sensor's probably bad. Lots of sensors on mine had to be replaced. The window guvenors (sp?) are bad too, at least for the 2002 325i. Read More...

Oil Light
I have a 2002 BMW 325 convertible. The oil was changed about 2 months ago. All the sudden the oil light comes on yellow when I start the car, stays on for about 15-20 seconds then goes off. Anybody have any idea what the problem might be? The oil level is fine. Read More...
Re: True or False [dash5]
I'm in a similar situation I have a 2002 bmw with low mileage (69k km) and am considering a 328ix. I have a question for you. I have had to change my battery 4 times (even changed the alternator). The dealership says its because I don't drive it enough to fully charge the battery. Have you had a similar experience ? Read More...

3 Series Buying advice
I've never owned a BMW before and I need some second opinions. I'd like to get a manual 3 series. I'm only able to look at used 2004 or older because of price. I've got a 2004 325xi with 52,000 miles on it. Basic - not even power seats. It was listed at $16,000. I've gotten the guy down to $14,000 (plus D&H and tax). It's through an auto broker in Cherry Creek, CO. The other ... Read More...

Newbie!
Hey, about to lovingly dive into the world of BMW ownership, totally committed to doing research, keeping up on maintenance, and getting the most out of the car, but could use a little advise on the two cars I think I've narrowed it down to: Option A: 2000 328i, in the last year he's replaced the water pump, power steering pump, serpentine & acc. belt, intake elbow ...
