I'm sorry about your terrible loss. You'll want to contact the NHTSA to report this fire--and stay on them to follow up as they tend to be questionably competent, at best. I lost my 21 yr old son July 2009 when he fell asleep in our 2002 BMW 330 with the engine running. The car caught fire after idling for one hour. Investigation showed cooling fan failure. That's lame. It's not normal. So long as there's nothing else the matter with the engine, the sensor's probably bad. Lots of sensors on mine had to be replaced. The window guvenors (sp?) are bad too, at least for the 2002 325i. Read More...

I'm in a similar situation I have a 2002 bmw with low mileage (69k km) and am considering a 328ix. I have a question for you. I have had to change my battery 4 times (even changed the alternator). The dealership says its because I don't drive it enough to fully charge the battery. Have you had a similar experience ? Read More...

I've never owned a BMW before and I need some second opinions. I'd like to get a manual 3 series. I'm only able to look at used 2004 or older because of price.
