Im looking to buy a used BMW(first car) but i have concerns about the reliability, life and cost of maintanence and repairs. Im looking at the following(all have clean autocheck): 2000 BMW 328i - 95k miles 2001 BMW 325i - 134k miles 1999 BMW 328i - 140k miles looking at between 7k to 9.5k for these.im a college student in Orlando, Fl. and i will atleast on a vehicle ... fomentar - All owners manuals want you to use only OEM accessories. Don't know why you ask, but don't be too worried. I have not used Finish First, but have used several other synthetic wax products on my BMW - they are fine and do provide a very deep shine. ajl1000 - Congratulations on your purchase. I own a 2001 BMW 325XI with 92,000 miles. Two recent repairs--thermostats and expansion tank & throttle body and engine wire harness--have been costly. Thermostat and expansion tank failures aren't that uncommon, but they aren't expenive to rectify either. Why did you need a new throttle body and wiring harness? I know this is an old thread, but it's got to be a joke, right? Don't get me wrong, the Altima is a great car - especially the 3.5SL. In fact, I'll probably buy one in the next few weeks. climatecontrol... My local midwestern dealer is offering 2.9 percent on CPO MY2000 cars. Believe that is thru BMW Financial Services. Your friend should talk to the dealership about finance rates for CPO BMWs. In MY2000, it was the 323i. 325i came out in 2001. Read More...

I'm thinking the radiator auxuliary cooling fan debacle from the 2001 vintage E46s easily blew through the 10% failure rate. With that fan, it wasn't a matter of if, it was a matter of when it would fail. As I recall, BMW ponied up and replaced every fan out in the field, regardless of whether it failed or not.
