BMW 3-Series Run Flat Tires

Re: djtesq [sbyron]

Bite the bullet and put a full-sized spare on it's own matching wheel in the trunk. The jack easily fits into the well beneath. I know it takes up a lot of trunk space, but believe it or not, you will never miss it. We do our weekly marketing, drive on 2000-3000 mile vacations yearly and are never at a loss for space. Granted, there are only two of us and the back seat sometimes ... Read More...

Re: What is total dealer incentives for an new 09? [elias]

It's probably unrealistic to expect to pay invoice for a BMW, as there are no dealer "holdbacks" or other back-end, unseen ways that the dealer may make a profit on a below-invoice sale. So if they sell for invoice, they make no profit. They'll make that up somehow (add points to the interest rate, undervalue your trade, all the usual methods.) $500 over invoice ... Read More...

BMW 3-Series Maintenance and Repair

Maintence Questions on a 2000, Manual 328i

- I bought my first BMW recently, a 2000, manual 328i with 70k miles from a private party. All service was performed at an independent garage. My next inspection is due in 8k miles and was wondering whether to go with the Inspection I, II service, or if there is something that needs to be done asap? I know the water pump has not been replaced. I have done my research and ... Read More...

BMW 3-Series Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Prices in OC/LA [bob269]

What is the option credit? And yes, $800 below invoice was the best offer so far. I haven't bought the car yet, as I was thinking I could do better... But maybe that is a good deal? I know Mercedes in this area is doing 1000 or more below invoice... I've heard of nearly 2000 below invoice on C Classes... but I want a convertible... I was thinking I could get something similar ... Read More...

BMW 3-Series 2005 and earlier

Re: Newbie! [jtueller]

I recommend you stay away from Option A, the 2000 328i sedan. Consumer Reports says it is one of the worst cars to own, and I have to agree, having had one for six years. I replaced all kinds of major parts and didn't see an end. I finally traded it in for a 2005 330i. Some times Consumer Reports actually does get it right. I am not convinced they know their new cars, being ... Read More...

Re: Newbie! [jtueller]

I'd be tempted to go with the 2000 328i assuming that you can have a pre-purchase inspection performed by a good BMW tech-and it sounds like you already have one. The only problem is the automatic; it may go 200K with no problems and it might go tomorrow. The only decent repair is with a BMW remanufactured unit, and they aren't cheap. I wouldn't pay extra for AWD- just ... Read More...

Newbie!

Hey, about to lovingly dive into the world of BMW ownership, totally committed to doing research, keeping up on maintenance, and getting the most out of the car, but could use a little advise on the two cars I think I've narrowed it down to: Option A: 2000 328i, in the last year he's replaced the water pump, power steering pump, serpentine & acc. belt, intake elbow ...
