Acceleration to 60 mph from a stop comes in 4.7 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds @ 104.6 mph. Its raspy new exhaust audibly rewards the driver with each application of the pedal. The new single-turbo 3.0-liter is a blast to drive.
The 335is offers excellent balance and grip, and it echoes BMW's traditional message. Steering is precise but weighted on the heavier side, a benefit at speed that can be a bit much in parking lot situations.
This is a sports-minded car and tuned as such. It isn't going to offer the compliant ride of a Toyota Camry. But among vehicles with sport suspensions, this car is relatively comfortable. Even with run-flat tires we'd consider it above average.
For starters, the exhaust is built to sound cool. That in itself limits just how quiet the 335is can be. But 3 Series buyers would probably overlook this nuance. Noise from standard run-flat tires is more than we'd like but not excessive.
The 335is is essentially a 2+2 coupe. Its front seats are easily accessed. Their side bolsters are supportive yet non-invasive. If we consider grown adults don't comfortably fit in the backseat, this sedan loses some ergonomic appeal.
The hood drops off considerably between the windshield and front bumper, allowing excellent visibility. Xenon adaptive headlamps light the road clearly when the sun cannot. Park distance controls further decrease blind spots.
Seat Access & Space
Seat access is about average for a 2-door coupe. Don't expect to fit full-size adults in the backseats and everything will work out just fine. Front seats offer plenty of bolstering and accommodate most body shapes and sizes comfortably.
Cargo & Storage
Trunk space is large enough to fit luggage for two: One checked bag and one carry-on each. Interior storage is limited, as we've come to expect from BMWs. There is a small center console and a couple of skinny door pockets.
As usual, interior and exterior build quality is top shelf. BMW does not disappoint us in this category and continues to rank among the best options available.
