I know a few of you
Written by: nyccarguy on May 12, 2012 6:06:07 AM
Guys are BMWCCA members, but if you are not & like BMWs, it's a great way to save some money. BMWFS made 2 ($500) of my 1st 2 $572 lease payments. Because I'm a BMWCCA member, I filled out a form & got an additional $500 rebate from BMW of North America. When we leased my wife's X3 back in 2007, I also got a $500 rebate. Well worth the $48/ ... I guess everyone here is waiting to hear what I think of my new 328xi. You guys are a tough crowd, so I hope I can deliver. I also know some of you have read my story on "Real World Trade In Values" & "Stories From The Sales Frontlines," so I'll try an tailor to the enthusiasts here comparing it to my (former) TSX and my all time (personal benchmark) 2001 ... I will be less rude "I bought a BMW new but would never get one for 18k", Ok well how about a lease. _ Acura, Infiniti, BMW and others offer competitive leases that for that same 18k over 3 years you can get into a Elpps car. On his Infiniti comment I have a 07 g35x with 30k miles - it can be had for 20k but in this economy would ... Read More

A $47K 328i is expensive, but hardly unheard of. Back in December 2007, my Mom ordered & leased a 2008 328xi with an MSRP of $46,000 + without the sports package & without navigation. Most 335s out there have an MSRP in the $50K range.

I'm wondering though how limited the complaints are, or would be, once the awareness of the problem is better known. What I mean is, since my friends 2007 BMW 328ix had her RFTs melt in 20,000 miles, isn't it safe to assume that just about everybody with the same car going the same distance on the same tires in the same large metro area would suffer the same fate? Excellent points. ... Read More

I certainly understand your motives in swapping out the RFT's. The originals on my wife's MINI were also noisy, but the new RFT's she installed in late 2010 appear to be much quieter. I will say again... in a perfect world, a buyer would have the factory option of RFT's or GFT's. I also agree with your opinion of the car. No, it isn't perfect, but then again, anyone who buys ... The Michelin's on my 2010 328i are far quieter than the Bridgestones on my 2007 Z4 coupe. Like most other technologies, RFT is advancing as well. However, there are some very "rabid" RFT haters out there, and for many of them there will never be a suitable RFT available. Personally, I"m neutral. I do wish BMW would give the option of a space saver spare, but that doesn't appear to be ... Read More

"What I said about these cars still stands, however: every 2007 3-series BMW is waiting for this to happen, and when it does, its a $3500+ repair." Nah, if what you say is true, there'd be 2007 328i models dropping by the thousands, and that just ain't happening. A Clarification
Written by: jongould on May 4, 2011 11:04:55 AM
Thanks to the gentle prodding I received as a result of this posting and thread, I just called BMW and asked them for a better explanation. Here's what they told me: the fuel pump in the 2007 328xi (and, I strongly suspect, other 3-series cars from that and maybe other model years) is located inside the fuel tank, and the fuel tank is a "sealed unit." What this means is that ... Read More

BMW 3-Series Fuel Pump Failures
Written by: jongould on Apr 29, 2011 3:54:12 PM
Copied below, you will find a letter I wrote to BMW Customer Relations earlier this month, detailing an experience I had involving a fuel pump failure on my 2007 BMW 328xi. I believe that the problem I experienced represents both a potential safety issue -- given the fact that a fuel pump failure results in an immediate loss of engine power, power steering, and power brakes -- and a potential design ... 2009 Ford Escape XLT for a 2007 BMW 328xi
Written by: mjm87 on Sep 15, 2010 6:40:26 PM
So I currently own a 2009 Ford Escape XLT with 7500 miles on it. It has custom leather, spoiler, sync, and is an I4 4WD vehicle. The car is fully paid off and nothing is owed on it. I am considering selling/trading in my Escape for a CPO 328xi. I am hoping to get as close as I can to an even swap, but I know that will be unlikely. The ... Read More

2008 CPO Loan APR
Written by: 03accordman on Sep 13, 2010 9:49:11 AM
I am negotiating on a 2008 335i - the dealer tells me that there is no special APR rate on 2008 3 Series models (only on 2007 3 Series). The BMW website says 'from 0.9% APR for 2007 AND 2008 3 Series' - but this has to be checked with the dealer. The dealer showed me the BMWFS offering sheet - and for 2008 nothing is marked for special APR. Is ... Read More

What's Gavles say about my wife's 2007 BMW X3 (Montego Blue, Black Leatherette, Rear Privacy Glass, Steptronic, Heated Front Seats, 45K miles) that we returned about a month ago? The buyout according to our lease was $26K & change. IIRC, the dealer offered to sell it to us for $21,600, but then wanted an additional $2995 ... Read More

Even though the '07 was the first year for the coupe in the US, the E90 architecture was in use on the '06 model sedans, so for much of the running gear, it was the second model year (not even counting that Europe usually has them before we do).. I wouldn't worry about an '07 coupe for that reason... That was the first year for the twin-turbo models, however... I'd be ... Read More

2007 or 2008 BMW?
Written by: bobc70 on Sep 7, 2010 11:30:46 AM
I'm hoping to get my first BMW 3 series Coupe in a few weeks. I'm looking into 2007-2008 models. I know the 2007 was the first year for the new coupe models, and i've always stayed away from the first year models. Should I do that with this model as well and pay more for the 2008 model? ">

Unless they changed things after 2007, the 335 does not come with an alarm. It is wired for an alarm, but does not come with one. I miss the chirps - used it a lot with prior cars when I could not remember where I parked, so I'm thinking of getting one installed for that.

I bought my first tan interior vehicle 4 months ago...a 2007 BMW 335i. I too was worried...I have a 5-year old son. I have had no issues with the leather. I put down beige rubber mats instead of the carpet that came with the car and it's worked out fine. After 4 months, the interior still looks immaculate.

Good price for a 2007 328xi?
Written by: marcmax1 on Aug 26, 2010 6:18:12 PM
I'm considering purchasing a CPO 2007 328xi (about 30K miles) with premium package (heated front seats, bluetooth, BMW Assist) and wonder what a fair price is. How much room do dealers have with this type of car? There seems to be a lot of them listed in the inventory I've found on line. . . How much does location factor into this? I'm between NYC and Philly. Thanks!

No tactics, no vodoo, no smooth talking, it's called supply and demand. Right now on 2010 leftover (and brand new) there is $3500 trunk money from BMW to dealer also 3-series due to stiff competition from A4/A5/S4/S5 and Infiniti G37 series is slow mooving; so dealer discount 3-series in range of $2500-$3000 all day long. Immaculate condition except for a few scrapes around the rims, only noticeable if you look closely. Speedtronic transmission. Talked them down to $28K from the $34K sticker price.
