Bulletproof

Vehicle: 1993 BMW 3 Series 318i 4dr Sedan

This is without a doubt the best used car purchase I've ever made. Car had 90K miles on it when purchased and now has 151K miles. Great gas mileage and STILL a blast to drive. Fit & finish still very good; no squeaks or rattles. Not bad for an 11-year-old car driven daily. The M42 engine is practically bulletproof - just change oil every 3K miles and no problems.

Absolute maintenance horror story

Vehicle: 1993 BMW 3 Series 318i 4dr Sedan

This car has been an unmitigated disaster from the time we got it with only 20,000 miles. Although it drives very well, and has a comfortable and solid feel for a smaller car, we have sunk thousands into it for repairs large and larger. The worst was a blown head gasket at 45,000 miles! Unbelievable. Numerous motors and switches have gone out, from the window controllers to wheel bearings...stuff you'd never expect from a car with so few miles, and a BMW to boot.

Still a great car

Vehicle: 1993 BMW 3 Series 318i 4dr Sedan

Even after 10 years, this car is still fun to drive. The exterior of the car gets a lot of looks, and it has held up very well. The safety and performance of this car make it worth the extra expense of buying and maintaining a BMW.

I must say, that in driving BMW 3 series from 1993 and 2002, this one is a bit of a disappointment. It is simply too heavy and not as tossable as my other 325i's. The Bridgestone run-flats certainly d...

I have had 2 BMW 3 series since 1993 and the driving experience has been incomparable. Only one problem in 12 years-right front passenger airbag opened for no reason in 2002....

BMW made a serious error with this vehicle. Its two versions are too close in bulk and price to the two 3 Series Coupes. The interior is also much like the 3 Series vehicles....
