Think Announces $36,495 MSRP for City EVBy Scott Doggett March 30, 2011
The Think City battery-electric two-seater will have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $36,495 when it goes on sale in selected U.S. markets at the end of this summer, a spokesman for the Norwegian-based EV maker told Green Car Advisor today.
That price does not include federal, state and other financial incentives that could bring the customer's cost of the plug-in vehicle down substantially, spokesman Brendan Prebo said. To date, the company has sold 100 of the vehicles in the U.S., all to fleet operators or their employees.
All 100 of those vehicles, as well as 945 sold elsewhere in the world to date, were assembled in Finland, Prebo said. Those that go on sale to the public in Indiana, Northern California and Southern California, as well as other initial markets that the company hasn't settled on, will be made from the ground up at the company's new factory in Elkhart, Indiana.
The company has not announced its annual production target for the Elkhart factory, Prebo said. As for whether the company will eventually offer the City to Americans in a four-seat configuration, which is currently available in Europe, that is the plan, he said.
