HIROSHIMA, Japan — Mazda will debut its Takeri, a next-generation midsize sedan concept, at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show in November. It gives onlookers their first peek at what's expected to be the redesigned Mazda 6, which will appear in early 2013.
Mazda also will unveil the new CX-5 crossover SUV.
Both are equipped with the full array of Mazda's breakthrough Skyactiv fuel-saving technology, which includes the Skyactiv-D clean diesel engine, the new six-speed automatic transmission, a new body and chassis framework and an engine idle-stop system.
The Takeri is also the first Mazda equipped with regenerative braking.
The look of the Takeri is expected to turn heads as well. Using Mazda's new design inspiration, "Kodo - Soul of Motion," the car sports voluptuous curves, big wheels and a rounded nose, bringing a new level of allure to Mazda's sedan styling.
Edmunds.com says: As with all show concepts, the most interesting part of the Takeri exercise will be waiting to see what elements make it to production.
