SHANGHAI, China — The latest member of the Citroën DS family, the new DS5, is a wagonlike five-door powered by a 197-horsepower diesel hybrid system.

Being introduced this week at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show as a concept, the DS5 joins the DS3 three-door hatchback and DS4 five-door.

The five-passenger DS5 was designed to showcase another variant of Peugeot-Citroën's HYbrid4 drivetrain. Power comes from a 161-hp 2.0-liter turbodiesel driving the front wheels and a 27kW (36-hp) electric motor driving the rear wheels.

The showcar is painted White Pearl, with an ebony leather interior, and rides on 20-inch wheels and tires.

Edmunds.com says: The production version of the DS5 will go on sale later in China and Europe. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
