LAS VEGAS — The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition, a production car that will go on sale early next year, debuted on Monday at the 2012 SEMA Show.

The special Camaro takes its cues from the popular toy cars and features a vibrant metallic paint treatment and red-lined wheels.

"It's the first time a full-size, production Hot Wheels car has been offered for sale by any manufacturer," said GM in a statement. "Blister packaging and orange racetrack not included."

The Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will be available in coupe and convertible models in V6 and V8 trims. Pricing has not been announced.

GM did not disclose volume numbers for the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition, but said a special run will be produced in the first quarter of 2013.

GM said the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition blends the exterior cues of the Camaro ZL1 with a Kinetic Blue exterior color, a ZL1 rear spoiler on coupe models, ZL1 front upper grille, ground effects package, black 21-inch wheels with red outline stripe, a two-tone matte hood graphic, fender "flame" graphic and Hot Wheels grille and deck-lid logos.

The cabin is trimmed in black leather with red-and-black seat stitching with the Hot Wheels logo embroidered on the front seats. The Hot Wheels flame decal adorns the doors.

GM noted that the original Custom Camaro 1:64-scale toy from 1968 was one of the original 16 Hot Wheels cars issued and "remains one of the most valuable Hot Wheels toys among collectors." It's calling the production version of the car "full-scale driving fun."

Edmunds says: A dream-come-true for little boys who now have big wallets.
