PARIS — The Suzuki S-Cross Concept, which was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, is not a replacement for the Suzuki SX4, the Japanese automaker confirmed.

Suzuki said the concept car "will mark Suzuki's full-scale entry into the market for C-segment crossovers."

The concept is outfitted with a new Crystal Green Metallic exterior paint and 20-inch chrome wheels.

No word yet on whether the production version of the S-Cross is bound for the U.S. It is expected to go on sale in Europe sometime in 2013 and compete against the Nissan Qashqai.

"The new crossover will be the first in an ambitious program of annual European model launches which Suzuki will be starting in 2013," the company said in a statement.

No powertrain specifications were revealed for the production version of the S-Cross.

Edmunds says: The Suzuki S-Cross heralds a new crossover offensive by the Japanese automaker.
