PARIS — The Peugeot 2008 Concept will go into production in 2013, said the French automaker ahead of the crossover's debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

The production version will be sold in France, China and Brazil. Peugeot does not sell cars in the U.S.

The Peugeot 2008 gets a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, part of a larger global trend toward smaller engines. Peugeot said this will be the first application of the 110-horsepower small engine.

The 2008 Concept gets a neon yellow exterior paint treatment with matte varnish, accented by dark chrome touches.

Details such as pricing and fuel-economy numbers were not announced.

Edmunds says: While the fluorescent paint job on the Peugeot 2008 Concept may turn heads, the real story is the ongoing trend in downsizing engines.
