PARIS — The Maserati GranCabrio MC, a race-inspired version of the GranTurismo Convertible, will make its formal debut later this week at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

Maserati said the new GranCabrio MC is inspired by the success of the $204,000 GranTurismo MC Stradale. The GranTurismo MC Stradale debuted at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.

Few details were released about the GranCabrio MC, but Maserati noted that it is nearly 2 inches longer than the GranCabrio and GranCabrio Sport.

Maserati's U.S. arm did not immediately respond to a query by Edmunds on Monday asking about a U.S. launch date and pricing on the car.

The front fascia of the GranCabrio MC borrows its styling cues from the MC Stradale. The rear is defined by a large spoiler. Maserati says the car will be available with a carbon finish.

Edmunds says: No word on the fate of the long-rumored Maserati GranSport, although the automaker is sure to be a scene-stealer in Paris with the GranCabrio MC.
