PARIS — The Lexus LF-CC, which previews a future Lexus midsize coupe, will make its formal debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

The LF-CC may preview a future Lexus IS sedan and is the follow-up to the Lexus LF-CC 2+2shown at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

The LF-CC is equipped with a new 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that Lexus says is "destined for use in future production models."

"The new powertrain will be introduced in the Lexus model range in the near future," said Lexus.

The LF-CC stands out with an exaggerated spindle grille, which Toyota's upscale brand says "will be reflected in the styling of future compact D-segment models."

Lexus said in a statement that the grille takes on a pronounced 3D form and is accented by three-LED project headlight units. Separate daytime running lights are built into the upper bumper surface.

Edmunds says: Lexus starts to take some risks with its styling, with the most radical version of its spindle grille to date.
